Covid vaccination with medicine reaction
Not quite sure what you mean. I’ve had my Covid jab today. I’m allergic to amoxicillin. They screen you for any previous reactions before getting the jab.
They are really only interested in whether you have had an anaphylactic reaction in the past and if you need to carry an epipen as a result. Things like a rash after antibiotics etc aren't relevant to the vaccine.
In the case of pfizer, they’re now saying it only matters if you’ve had anaphylaxis in response to an ingredient definitely in the vaccine or a prior dose of the vaccine itself. Caution should be exercised with both Pfizer and the Oxford in those that have ever had a severe (anaphylactic) reaction to any vaccine given previously, but by that they just mean ask people to sit for a bit longer after the jab, and at the end of the day - as I discovered over the weekend - it can happen to anyone, regardless of history or lack of. Thankfully, the numbers are minuscule, and based on my own experience, if anything does happen, you get quicker treatment at a covid vaccination centre than anywhere else, including A&E! 😂
I have an allergy to penicillin or any antibiotic with ending with “cillin “ but two years ago I collapsed while nearing the end of a course of Erythromycin - so if the covid vaccination I’m having in the morning had anything to do with my allergic reaction to antibiotics this should be fun- NOT! I’m having the AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine . . 💉😶
