Lower back pain : Does anyone have lower back pain all... - NRAS
Lower back pain
Yes my backs killing me has been for last week, had to get tested fir Covid this morning, hopefully negative
I also have rheumatoid arthritis. I had lower and upper back pain and x rays show osteo arthritis in the spine. Sadly, you can have both. It might be worth checking with your GP.
I have osteoarthritis of several vertebrae in neck and lower back. I am very lucky to have a great physio, so have been able to keep the pain to manageable levels with exercises.
I’ve stopped wondering if it’s primary osteo, or secondary as a result of the RA. It just is!
Afraid so, lower back pain and into my hips. The scan has shown severe degradation of lower spine.
Does it knock you off your feet some days Craig? Some days I struggle to stand up...
Yes it can ruin ones day, I've found heat patches and pain killers can help relieve some of the pain, the biggest help recently was the purchase of a Sealy posture/ orthopaedic bed. I know they are not the cheapest on the market but I am not waking up with back pain, in the morning now days.
I have both RA & OA & pain so severe in my lower back that I can’t stand up straight or walk more than a few steps. We have had to buy a stair lift & a seat to get in & out of the bath. Last February I had some MRIs done on my back & it was found that I have 3 prolapsed disks, impingement of several nerves, misalignment of the spine & degenerative disk disease. I was referred to a spinal surgeon but then the lockdown & my shielding started so it was late August before I saw him. In September I was given several injections into my spine & after 2 days most of the pain went & I could stand up properly & walk better. However it only lasted for 9 days. I had a telephone consultation in November & I have to go for more MRI scans next week. Meanwhile I have now got cellulitis & an ulcer in my leg which is being dressed every week. I just hope it won’t stop them doing the scans. I hope you soon get some answers to your problems & some help for them.
I have lower back pain which gradually got worse during the year. It's really bad in the morning - can hardly walk without yelping-, but a the day goes by I can lessen it by moving and exercise. No idea what the cause is, can't see a physio, so I just have to accept it and deal with it. I hope you find a way of lessening the pain.
Have had RA since I was 8 1/2. Most of the time I can put up with the pain but the spine into hip joints have been tooooooo! Painful for the last 14 years, I cannot walk now , I spend most of my day in a reclining chair, have been loads of time to the pain clinic, no good. I sympathise with you 🌈 the pain is terrible. I am 71 now and wonder "how long"
I am sorry they can’t manage the pain and treatment better for you. With all the options there are now it doesn’t seem right at all. I’d be on and on at the rheumy and ask to go for a second opinion if you aren’t getting the help to be pain free ... there are so many options now. Don’t give up pushing the rheumy and gp💕
Believe it or not , my Rheumo, his assistant, my GP, have all told .me at different times, there is nothing that can be done, have had so many ops, my fingers on my right hand are painful and am on the list to have it amputated! (Sorry my little finger) it is tucked under my ring finger and I have to admit is rather painful. Take care all, and a Healthy and Happy New Year xx
I did reply this morning about 0730 but it hasn’t appeared here. I have exactly these symptoms including loss of appetite.can’t see the connection between back pain and appetite! I did wonder if I need a hip replacement.I have had both knees replaced due to RA.
Thanks for the reply. I haven’t been diagnosed with anything at the moment. I have bulging discs in the neck that are compressing nerves but my lower back has only been playing up the last couple of months. It’s the lack of energy and feeling that my legs will give way that I’m struggling with
Mine was vertebrae L4 trapping a nerve which can only be dealt with by surgery wjich I`ve decined `cos of my age and Covi19. ( L5/S1 was totally removed 30 years ago. )
