So it’s only for people living in Tier 4. But I think many of us in other tiers will probably shield too, if we can. I live in a Tier 2 area but it’s next to others that are Tier 4 and the hospitals we have to go to are in Tier 4. ☹️

Oh, definitely! I'm no expert - I promise 😊If you're able to read through the link, it should explain. As I said, I'm in tier 4 and I happened to have received an email...but that's just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

HiGlad your keeping yourself safe. Does everyone with RA have to shield? I have only just started my journey with RA and have only recently started methotrexate. I'm unsure of what to do. I also love in a tier 4 area. X

Get in touch with your gp.and ask for their advice and if they should put you on the shielding list. If in your area it's not the gp then call your local council. Benefits are if you are working it gives you permission to stay home in tier4 and on the other tiers to discuss working from home if possible. Also they will send your name to supermarkets and you can get priority deliveries of food. And also be earlier for the covid vaccine.

Hi I’m new to psoriatic arthritis & taking methotrexate along with other drugs. I spoke to the pharmacist in my drs yesterday & asked if I would now be classed as having to shield & she said yes my name would be added to the shielding list, I live in Wales which is currently at level 4, not sure if I’ll get a letter or anything but as I’m new to the list & Christmas is on our doorstep not expecting anything in the post soon so just taking precautions x

Hi. I have the same condition and on same meds. I was advised over the phone by my consultant to shield but have never had anything official such as a letter or text. Tbh I never bothered shielding because I still had to work bit am careful and so far been lucky. Also advised to have flu jab and pneumonia jab but unfortunately the pneumonia is not available in my area until next year.

Within a couple of days of being diagnosed & on methotrexate the drs contacted me & insisted I go there for the flu jab, no ones mentioned pneumonia to me so guessing they either don’t offer it, I don’t need it or they haven’t got it lol

I haven't received an email but had a letter in November from government to say to shield. So I assume I need to shield again as live in the Basildon area one of the highest in UK and in tier 4.

I really couldn't say - but it would make sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would anyway, tier 4 means there is a lot of virus in the community so if you can just staying away from it makes total sense!
