I also had problems with Gabapentin. I had been taking 300mg twice a day for about 8 months. When I first noticed pain in my hands, I thought it was my age; I'm 68. I noticed increased pain as the months went by, still chalking it up to my age. I would wake up in the mornings and my hands would be in a fist-like position. It took hours to unclench them. I ended up wearing stiff construction gloves to bed. It would cause great pain to remove the gloves. If I even brushed up against something , I would experience excruciating pain in my hands. Months later I came down with a bad case of gastroenteritis. I was in bed for 10 days. I once ended up in the hospital with a really bad case of it. While I was sick in bed, I was going at both ends, so I stopped taking Gabapentin completely. I knew I was not supposed to just cold-turkey but I did. The positive effects were almost immediate. Within days, I stopped wearing gloves to bed, my fists unclenched and the extreme pain upon touching anything went away. Now, 6 weeks later, I feel better than I have in months. Gaba gaba doo-doo is what I think of this drug.

Hi, sorry to hear you've been having these problems. I have Lupus, Sjogrens etc I have RA to a lesser degree.I started Gabapentin around a year ago due to neurological leg pain. Although the pain hasn't gone it has lessened. I had some bowel disturbances initially, but have IBS so that settled.

I haven't noticed increased hand pain or contraction.

If you have stopped it you should tell the doctor not just because you could be treated with something more appropriate but adverse reactions should be reported to the drug company.

I wish you good luck.
