Little things that I now value

A few things which I try not to take for granted now:The sun shining, my little cat curled up on my lap, a bowl of hot soup, an act of kindness, any achievement(however small), when things go right, a sense of peace, feeling comfortable, communication with the outside world!

You are right Pippy25, for me it’s a combination of the illness and also COVID. I hope I will change for the better.

To add, family, the garden, birds, Netflix, Amazon( we all need some odd stuff sometimes), supermarket deliveries, a warm house, food, toilet rolls (my neighbour works for Andrex), pansies in the garden, a butcher that delivers, the farm shop, chocolate and today a visit to the local fudge emporium in Rochester. A £10 mix up will last till Christmas providing my hiding place is not discovered. lol x

Yes, all of those. I don’t know what I would do now without supermarket deliveries, have noticed the slots becoming a bit scarce again.

Good luck with the fudge lasting till Christmas.😇

Well some has gone, and got another to add to your list a great tousled haircut today. I love the new look , just wash and ruffle and it sticks up all over the place, very trendy and I feel years younger. Now where is the debit card for a spot of internet shopping as I've lost a couple of steroid pounds and need some new jeans. lol xx

It’s very moorish isn’t it.

That’s great for morale, just need to add some new clothes now for a brand new look😃

I’ve just spent a considerable amount on new 🤓 glasses today and been told I also have blepharitis to add to my growing list of ailments☹️

Anyway I picked up specs. trendy and two tone to drive back over bridge to think hang on this blue and yellow'ish trendy colour scheme is very popular as their painting Rochester Bridge those colours. Shock, horror and much amusement to the husband, who told everyone.....

The ability to take joy from small things is truly a blessing and a talent that is well worth fostering. I'm currently admiring the very confused Christmas cactus blossoming with shocking pink flamboyant flowers

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply to Gnarli

I have a Christmas cactus, the flowers are really beautiful when I manage to get the conditions right for it to give me flowers. Are you feeding yours?

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to Rachmaninov2

No, I don't feed them at this time of year. I save that for Spring. I'm ashamed to say they thrive on neglect and blossom when light levels are poor.

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply to Gnarli

Yes, I stopped feeding mine. I wondered if it might help as it still growing albeit slowly.

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply to Rachmaninov2

I'm no expert. I plonk them on the windowsill and hope for the best mostly

I couldn't be without flowers in the house. They clean the air and raise the spirits don't they?

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply to Gnarli

Yes, I love to have roses from the garden indoors. They bring a room to life.

medway-lady profile image
medway-lady in reply to Gnarli

They do indeed and especially now, to keep the spirits up as too cold to sit in the garden.

This virus has certainly made us take stock of what is really important in our lives. Every cloud has a silver lining.

It’s the little things that do you good my mum used to say! I used to think big things were better as a child but now I get it!

Simple pleasures help you through dark times. Best of luck everyone for the next month.

I know that simple pleasures are making me more content right now Green230461.

Good luck to you too.

A simpler life has become so much more important in recent months. I do hope we do not loose our acknowledgement of how important these simple things are.

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply to Mmrr

I think you are right Mmrr but I also think it is just human nature to want more, to achieve more.

Mmrr profile image
Mmrr in reply to Rachmaninov2

Or perhaps expected of us ? Often the things we think we need, don't actually make us happier ?

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply to Mmrr

That is a good point, or maybe they sometimes make us feel better for a very short while.

Very true. Generally, we use to take thing for granted! Now, most of the time have to keep myself home and go out only with mask on. Hope the virus issue can be over soon.

Now over here is under red zone, so a lot of restriction. I only go out to buy groceries or to go to hospital for my appointment.

Sorry to hear that you are under a lot of restriction. We do need to keep our hospital appointments if possible, my medical appointments are my new social occasions!
