Ouch !!

So went to gp for pre infusion bloods and the nurse called a doctor she was so concerned about mg knee. So had To go to gp for pre infusion bloods. Nurse very . Called who for once was lovely. I've got a cartilage break and meniscus tear. He was angry the hospital just dismissed me. He will take fluid out if it doesnt improve and get more treatment if needed. For now, no twisting even at the waist, no standing, keep the leg straight. Painkillers x feel better just for being taken seriously , he was so angry on my behalf .

I am so sorry to hear this allanah and hope that you get the service and treatment you need, as here is your twin. I will say no more in respect of my situation as it isn't helpful or constructive to yours. I am so glad someone is taking you seriously, and send you some supportive wishes xx

Argggghh noooo. I did think before it could have been a tear knowing how the orthotist caused a very similar pain and symptoms when he tore my medial collateral ligament in 2014 with the whole of his body weight pressed into my knee. 🤬. Sorry you have cartilage issues too in this area. 😢 I hope the ligaments are able to heal with rest. My torn ligaments took an age to get properly right but it did heal. My tear was at the inner side though rather than between the middle of the knee. I could walk on it after a few weeks but only with two sticks and short distances. My senior physio diagnosed mine. (Then an X-ray to rule out a break.) Glad your nurse was so helpful and the doc was on your side. Hope they can get some fluid off if it’s still agonising as that is a big factor with the pain as the fluid often has nowhere inside so just pushes on everything else. Starts to affect the thigh and calf hurting sometimes. Had that a lot in the past but it was more when my meds weren’t working. That’s not your case I know. I know it’s awful when your knee is so full. 😢 Healing wishes. 💗xx

I am so glad that you have something concrete to deal with. Hopefully this doctor will follow through and you'll get pain relief and the right treatment. I'll be angry on your behalf so you can concentrate on getting better.

At last some decent treatment allanah! You knew there was more going on all along - if only they listened to the patient more often. Hope it heals quickly for you. X

Glad you were finally taken seriously. Hope your GP complains to A&E about your lack of care. I think sometimes there is a tendency with some Doctors to put every pain down to Rheumatoid Disease as soon as we mention we have it. At least you have a diagnosis now. Onwards and upwards xx

Yes that's what was annoying me ... I kept saying but this isnt a flare ... oh well. Glad my nurse and gp were better ! Hope my bloods ok for Thursdays infusion now!

I got behind with reading, hadn't realised you'd been seen. Well... b%//dy hell E! No wonder you're in such pain. Can't believe the hospital. I know you'll do as you're told, not much option when doing otherwise makes it all more painful. I hope it all helps & your painkillers are strong enough. x

That’s awful! Thank goodness for your nurse and doctor. Nothing worse than knowing there is something wrong and not being taken seriously, look after yourself.

I did know as I have 12 years experience of this illness and you get to know it well. It wasnt hot, different type of pain and my other joints were fine and I always feel " fluey" when I flare ...this was just a painful knee ...

I did stop myself short though on teaching them about RA ( as I knew I was angry) when I heard her say outside the curtain, "she has RA in her knee.!" ..... 🥵

Oh Allanah I do feel for you, you’ve certainly been through the wars, not the best experience but glad you have at last got the treatment/ diagnosis to move forward, so yes lots of rest. I know it’s hard as we get fed up with sitting around but this is vital now for you, so lots of good books, I love watching Live webcamS, especially the panda highlights, they do make me smile, take care feet up x

Hi Allanah a great yoga pose pose to help release fluid around ankles and knees is vaparita Karani (legs up the wall). Sit sideways to the wall so ur hips are close to it, shuffle around and raise ur legs up on the wall, u can place a pillow under your head and back to make it more comfortable. Stay here and deep breathe for 15-20 minutes. Also great for stress relief and insomnia, 🙏

So sorry I’m late to find out your update. OMG that’s absolutely disgraceful I suspected there was more going on but even then it must be a shock to find out the damage that you’ve done. I really hope that you get some relief from the painkillers but I’m pleased your GP and nurse have finally taken you seriously. If it was me I would be so angry at the shoddy treatment you received in A&E but I suppose that’s not going to change now. Sending my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery and I’m sorry you’ve had to endure what you have already.

I allow myself some worrying time usually when I see Boris in the News!! Then lose myself in my fave places .. could be doing art/craft/sewing/garden projects/cooking solething new/browsing Brora/Liberty/John Lewis websites (credit card safely away in my handbag 🤪 but sometimes you need to treat yourself!) /Happy Place podcasts/Ru Paul podcasts (these podcasts are so funny)/books and mags Then I feel so much better and the worry may be there still to go back to but not in my private hour or two! If I feel myself drifting to it I change what I am doing and shift my focus. It is hard to segment it off of like this but I’m learning. Of course music is a great healer. I’m watching lots of music DVDs too even if missing the live experiences so very much. We are going through a big box set of Old Grey Whistle Test DVD’s when the men looked prettier than the women and had far better hair cuts LOL. Hope your pain is under better control. Gentle hugs Allanah. Hope all went well for your Toci and your nurse saw your knee again and maybe advised more. 💗x

Hope your infusion goes well and helps to alleviate the pain and inflammation which can’t be helping right now. I’m not surprised you’re pretty miserable you must feel so let down too. Take some time out to look after yourself and if hubby can manage it I think a bit of a treat might be in order for you. Keep us posted how you’re doing and if you need to vent please do so 🤗👍
