This morning I have niggles everywhere but under sides of wrists, all the way up to my elbows and into the muscles above have been aching non stop. It's a bit in my hands too: on top and underneath, sort of inside. I'm writing though about severe sharp pains. Lasting about 5 seconds, really really horrible. Made me shout, thank God I'm at home. Does anyone else get this?
Only just received my prescription for mtx.

Good to hear you've got your prescription for MTX, hopefully this will help alot.
I know inflammation can affect where tendons attach to bone and therefore cause tenderness up the entire tendon, i get this in my forearm. I'm hoping the methotrexate can help with this, better to be on a DMARD than trying to cope without i reckon x
Hi I must admit I hd grave misgiving about taking mxt. I hate taking any drugs. However the pain was so bad I had to do something. My severe pain would gradually get worse reaching an extreme pain usually in the middle of the night and then gradually tapering off over 24hrs. The worst pain I must admit was my Knee. Crying in the middle of the night. That convinced me that I had to take drugs to control it. I am now on inflixamub every eight weeks in hospital. Works great. You will get there and look back ad be glad you started treatment. Kind regards Sue
Hi Prettystuffed - sounds like hell - thankfully you have found medication that works so it's been worth it.
I haven't experienced pain for that long, hence my apprehension about mtx. I've had the ache in my hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders all day but the sharp pain was twice and lasted for only about 5 seconds.
I had one nasty episode a few months ago which kept me awake all night, it was in my shoulders, arm and chest, but it never happened again.
Comparing these experiences to others on the forum, I really do question if mtx is the right way forward.
Hi Thank you for your reply. I think everybody tends to have to start on mxt. If it doesn't work for you the medication then changes until something works that suits you. Some people find mxt works really well. You go for it. If it doesn't suit there are loads of options. Good luck on your journey. I have had RA for 3yrs and we were all newbys once xxxx
To be honest I have good days and bad. Sometimes the pains are fleeting whilst others can be all day.
Physio told me there is no rhyme or reason to inflammatory arthritis and you can drive yourself mad trying to workout what its going to do next! So I'm giving the MTX a good old go x
