Hi everyone, so lovely to get so many comments on this drug as to whether to take it or not but it has just been delivered and frightened to start it as there seems to be another wave of this wretched virus coming - should I just take the plunge and start it ? Would love to hear if others are continuing it as my rheumy said it is my choice.
Barasitinib: Hi everyone, so lovely to get so many... - NRAS
Barasitinib
I’m due to start the same drug in the next 3 weeks. I believe flaring and active disease is more dangerous. I will start baricitnib and I will take extra care .
Yes, it does seem that is what people are thinking now. Especially if under 75.
Well, that’s not too helpful of your Rheumy is it Anny?! If it was me I’d rather take my meds & do as we're advised re COVID as having RD uncontrolled worries me more just now. I think baricitinib was considered as treatment though not sure what the end decision was, whether it was good or not, but nevertheless I’m taking my meds unless told not to by my Rheumy so as yours hasn't maybe that's the answer?
Started thid 3 days ago, instead of the imraldi as the metho + sulpha + miraldi was not keeping it in check, seems ok so far but the colder tempsare having not so nice afffects :/
Still on the the 25mg methotraxite + 2x2 tabs of sulpa tabs each day.
When i was on it it worked quite well. Bite the bullet and take the drug. If you get a infection you will have to stop it if your on antibiotics..xxx
Hi, I also worried about continuing with medication for R.A. but decided in the end this virus will be with us for sometime yet and we need to Look after ourselves so I continue with my Medication as advised by the R.A. team.
Good luck with yours I really hope you get some positive results from it x
I was anxious about starting methotrexate with me being a teacher and having 30 pupils age up to 18 in my class (I am already on Benapali and steroids). However my rheumy said the covid will likely be around for a long time and that was too long for me to deteriorate so I took it. Hope that helps
Hi the thing about baracitinib is that it’s out of your system in a day abs I know that’s true because I forgot to take it a couple of days ago and I could tell with the pain. I had covid symptoms in June my taste went weird and I had a bad cough that lasted 6 weeks I had to come off it for three weeks to take antibiotics and ended up in a massive flare. I had a covid test that came back negative but I’ve since had an antibody test that came back positive. I have had all the DMARDS and this is my 7 biologic although I don’t think baracitinib is classed as a biologic and this is the one I’ve been on the longest and has worked the best with none of the bad side effects I had from the others. Good luck with it xx
Don't know if this helps but I read this about Baricitinib.
I’m started Baricitinib 11 days ago, and to be honest was glad to start it, hoping it will be a game changer 😊
No side effects Pinkp?
I have been taking this for eight weeks now. Not sure if it has made a difference yet but could not continue with current pain level. Already had a shoulder replacement so bones are already creaking to a halt. We can’t lose much more so go for it 😉
Best of luck with it. My knee is still very painful but looks less puffy so I hope it is starting to kick in. Hope it goes well for you too
