I’ve been on Hydroxychloroquine since March and every blood test I’ve had since my white blood cells have been low . Having more tests done I.e scan on spleen and immune blood test . They have been low in past but that’s probably because i was fighting an infection. Before I started the tablets my bloody test was fine . Anyone else had this problem ?

I'm not on hydroxychloroquine but I did have no white cells, no antibodies & no antigens a few weeks ago. I had chemotherapy last year so had a weakened immunity & caught CV19 early March. My immune system went right down following a regular blood test in June however I have been suffering from lasting health problems left by CV19 since. A blood test a few weeks later showed absolutely no immunity so I was straight away told to rest & shield for a further 12 weeks which ends next week. I had a blood test last week which has shown a significant improvement in my immunity. I wasn't given anything to boost my immunity but took a teaspoon of manuka honey myself everyday & ensured I rested. The exhaustion forced me to anyway. Hope you feel better soon, please take care you don't want to catch any infections etc and you are very prone to them at the moment. xx

I hope that all goes well. HCQ never affected my WBC count, but MTX did. I was in both together for a couple of years. Take care and stay safe.

I’m also on hydroxy and have had to get my bloods checked every month just now because of low white blood count, neutrophils are a lot lower than they should be, as you can’t really speak to doctors atm, the nurse just told me I’ve to keep getting it checked. It did go back up last month so I’m hoping it was a blip as we don’t need this with Covid still lurking about. I don’t think I have an infection but do have lymphoma which could also cause low wbc, it’s a mystery, but isn’t it amazing how your blood tells you these things. If only my Rheumy wouldn’t take my bloods to heart as if it doesn’t show in the bloods she is not interested. Hope your wbc goes back up again x

I had a low vitamin B12 count. Stopped taking Hydroxi about 8 months ago as consultant said it was not pertinent for me after 3 years taking it
