Hi, I have my blood results back. A little confused.....
I was checked for diabetes, thyroid, RA and evidently for Gout!
Results show, that my thyroid medication will remain the same, even though I am top of my range.
I am still in remission for Pre Diabetes, gone from 47 back down to 44.
Test for RA (Anti CCP test? as my reading = 33. which the GP says is a weak positive?
However the most surprising one, was the check for the Uric Acid:
My result was 605 (360 being normal result) so, looks like I have Gout according to the GP. She has not prescribed medication yet as she wants to check which one is best. I am really surprised by this. I do not drink or eat fatty/crappy food. But menopausal. Unfortunately I do have a weight problem thanks to the above thyroid condition and also I have to take a diuretic. But doing my best to lose weight.
Anyone had similar results or could explain them better?
The GP is not referring me to a consultant and given me medication for acute gout. I also have to produce a urine sample for the above.
Thanks in advance

Sadly is not restricted to the stereotype overweight male with red face eating steak and drinking wine. It can happen to anyone. Being overweight and menopausal don’t help.
But it’s not auto-immune which is a good thing, and often responds really well to treatment. And it doesn’t cause permanent damage. Neither of which help much when you are pain, but hopefully won’t last long. Look up self help, as lifestyle changes can make a big difference.
(The weak positive blood test was probably the rheumatoid factor, which isn’t that reliable. If it was the anti-CCP then even a weak positive should merit a referral).
A friend of mine recommended montmorency cherry juice when I thought I might have gout. She says it helps her. You can buy it from a health food shop or online. And I thing there is a low-purine diet you could try to help yourself while you wait for the referral appointment.
Hi, Just to let you know was able to get that Cherry drink - absolutely lush! But as feared, my husband thinks so too! So have gone for the save and subscribe option! Thanks for the recommendation. xx
I have elements of RA but mainly gout! which has now gone thanks to the steroids and medication. No more flare ups, but downfall to the steroids, was it sent me into diabetic land However, thanks to being low carb, I am now in remission. Thank you for asking. How are you?
