I have just had a blood test and the hospital is tougher on safety more than ever. Met at the door by 2 security guards who checked my blood form and time of test. The person in front of me was 10 mins early was told to return to his car until the right time. One person let in at a time I had to stand on the right side of the large waiting room no other people in there had my test then had leave on the left hand side. Saw no one other than security guards and phlebotomists. 🤔 why suddenly such a tough stand had blood tests 2 weeks ago yes strict measures but this was something else. I’m not feeling very comfortable

Blood test
I had mine done this morning too but same as usual. One person allowed at a time, wash hands before you go in and keep mask on at all times.
Mine was like that 3 weeks ago very strict arrival and departure too.
Maybe have a royal visitor lol 😂😂
Mine was a drive through. Was excellent, stop car wind down window and togged up nurse appears mantises hands and done. Faster than normal i hope they carry on with it but we're low risk area at the moment.
Wow!
We have a guy on the door dispensing hand gel and masks but the Phlebotomy unit in my hospital is drop in not appointments, and has a numbered ticket system that you take on entering . Waiting room is marked out for social distancing so sufficient gaps between seats. Sometimes 2 waiting but sometimes 12 ?
If you go to google and register with “swift queue”, you can book your blood test at the nearest chemist or blood testing station. My hospital is 9 miles away and difficult parking. I get bloods done in village a mile away. All well organized.
Ours by appointment only have to book in advance. We are given a designated clinic.
Can't your practice nurse do them?
No ..clinic nurse tells you where to go. GPs no bloods and only telephone appointments send photos for examination only seeing patients on doctors say so .... next door neighbor uses the same doctor they saw her to have her coil fitted . hey Priorities!!!
Blooming heck.
That is good to hear. Too many people think that because some restrictions have been lifted the virus has gone. How wrong they are. x
Interesting. As you say with a local spike that is likely the reason. I would feel safe with that service
Me too
Had mine done a week ago , very well run clinic at a site away from hospital
Everyone wearing masks , including patients , temp taken as you go in and hand sanitizer used.
One way in and one way out
Staff very efficient and reassuring !
Only problem being you have to wait a fortnight for appointment! And now the doctor wants a retest 😩and the waiting tome has gone up to 3 weeks 😡
Keep well and keep safe everyone x
It’s amazing how it differs from hospital to hospital. Retests should be given a special appointment I would have thought. Hey !! no rhyme or reason for a lot of things at the moment.
You’re right there ! I suppose we have to go with the flow!
Went for the first time since March yesterday (also my first time out of the house). It wasn't all that strict - temp taken at the main entrance and hand sanitiser and masks if people aren't wearing one; one way sytem etc but nothing more than that. It's a drop in clinic but there was no-one there at all apart from me. Very quick. Had to have x-rays as well and also much quicker than usual. There were about three other people waiting and it's usually jammed. I'll feel happier in a week or so if I'm still ok!
