Hi guys. I've been on methotrexate injections for 4 years now. Some weeks I feel fine on it some I'm sicky and hungover with it but usually clears up as the day goes on. But the last two weeks I have been so sick with it ,it's waking me up in the night and I'm hanging over the sink. I couldn't face work today it's totally floored me and it's lasted for 3_4 days before I feel better again. Now I feel like I can't can't do my injection again next week, I'm more sick on it than off.

It might be you have an underlying tummy bug that is showing when you have your meds. Do you have a " tummy protector" tablet like lasoprazole? I'd chat with your team .

Thanks yes I've rang and they have told me to stop my injection for a couple of weeks till my specialist can do a telephone appointment.

I dont take a tummy protector.

Yes I was put on a tummy protector for that reason xxx good luck but eventually changed to injections just so you know xx

I was on 20mg MTX for 3 1/2years odd hangover the next day. Then in February this year suddenly my hangover was 4 days and by March hangover lasted 6 days so bad I couldn’t participate mentally or physically in life. then I found myself sleeping 36hours after injection and nothing could wake me. I had a 4 week break then restarted on 7.5 and did well until 2 weeks ago and now told to double it . I’m very reluctant I don’t want to go back to that again

I was bad on MTX pills like you are above and then got switched to injection. First 2 went well but then everything came flooding back and now can only take it every 9days so only affects me for 2-3 days instead of 5days. It, (pre covid) changed my work pattern and life a lot. HOWEVER I know that it was helping the blood work showed this but when so bad came off for 4 weeks and within 2 weeks every joint screaming at me. So back on in March went back on as desperate for relief.

They are now looking at different ideas and consult next week as joints and fatigue still bad.

Take the 2 weeks but try to get back on as your joints need something and but just keep talking to your RA team they don't want you hanging over a sink either. x

Hi, I have been on mtx for a few years now, its strange sometimes it affects me, others I'm fine, don't inject in my tum any more as it always made me bad for a few days after, but just alternating my legs, its pop luck if I feel sick and bad after taking it. I have noticed that if I have cereals or toast with butter in it I always feel bad for the rest of the day, I have found a bowl of fruit works better. Don't know if there is a conection with dairy, tea just after taking my jab does the same.

I'm the same some weeks fine and other weeks I can feel bad till after lunch and really washed out, but never know till I get up.

I wonder why that is?

This week has just been super bad , 4 days now and I don't feel 100% yet.

I'm also trying to come down of prednisolone which i have been on for over 3 years and i think its been worse because of that. Never mind thinks can only get better lol. Ginger biscuits, strong mints and honey and ginger tea are a help, i get them both from Aldi.
