Consider an easy way to donate?

I’ve just received this notification. I don’t do a lot of shopping (old age has some benefits) but if you do shop at Amazon (and I know lots of people don't like it or approve) it is worth doing it through Smile so that NRAS get some benefit. "Your chosen charity, The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, recently received a quarterly donation of £260.91 from AmazonSmile, thanks to customers shopping at smile.amazon.co.uk."

I don't shop very much either but use Amazon Smile to donate to WaterAid. The last quarter it raised over £10 000. It's well worth doing. I'm ashamed to say I hadn't thought of NRAS so may change my charity

Water aid is a very worthy cause 👍

I am all for supporting NRAS.

I am unwilling to donate to many of the big name charities. I had a friend who worked at Wateraid and another who worked for Oxfam as well as some others. I learnt a lot about these charities and what happens to the money we donate to them. My friend at Wateraid was one of those responsible for the advertising. He told me how many millions they get/got (it’s in the 10’s of millions that people donate annually) and he let slip that the advertising wing is given half of the donations to advertise and smooze people into giving more. He was also on a very very fine salary indeed as was my other friend. I am annoyed that so much of the money donated is gone well before it goes to where it’s needed. So many of the charities are big business 😔

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that WA was different from the other charities. I'm swapping charities today. My £20 spend might make a difference. Not

What a moral dilemma!! Make Jeff Bezos even richer but help NRAS v not using Amazon but equally not helping NRAS.....hmmmm.

I know! I thought exactly the same, some of my family & friends won’t use amazon at all, dilemma eh? 😊

Yes I use Amazon and their Smile but ashamed to say that I didn’t think of NRAS. It’s easy to change so I’ll do that and give a few of my favourite charities each a turn

I have been using Amazon during shielding and also using the donation to NRAS.

My aim is to move back to and extend local shopping when I can.

Hello Oldtimer, I avoid Amazon when I can, but always use smileamazon if I have to. Giveasyoulive lets you choose NRAS as your charity as well. It asks you if you would like to be redirected vi it's interface and companies donate a percentage of the sales price. Well worth it.

I use smile.amazon quite a lot mainly birthday/christmas presents and have chosen NRAS as my charity, but it's nice to know that other people know about this. Thanks.
