Does anyone recommend a good caring rheumatologist who listens and doesn’t dismiss you if your bloods aren’t all ‘positive’.
I’ve been really struggling with RA type symptoms and could barely walk last week, luckily my Gp saw how unwell I was and put me on a short course of steroids to help my joint stiffness and pain.
If anyone knows a good Rheumy in Edinburgh or Glasgow that I could see private or via the nhs that does listen and doesn’t dismiss let me know, many thanks

I've found Dr Harris, Edinburgh WGH to be very good. I'm seronegative, she listened, asked questions and changed my biologic based on examination and my account. She does some private work at the Spire Edinburgh, but I don't think they are offering appointments at the moment.
Hi thanks for your ur reply. What did you have to get a seronegative diagnosis? I have no positive bloods except a positive Ana at the moment but have all the symptoms
I will have to try and ask for an MRI but with the current situation I really am not sure when this would be able to take place or if Dr Harris would let me have one
Yes Dr Hauser is my consultant now and really moved my care along, but she doesn't do private work. I'm going into my 4 year and haven't found my medication yet. Soon I hope.
Dr Anne McEntegert at Glasgow Royal is superb. She is open minded, listens to her patient, and looks at the whole picture, not just bloods. She also works at Stobhill hospital. Don't know about private work, but think not
I’ve seen Dr Lambert too. I find him good and he does listen, my bloods aren’t showing anything yet however I’m waiting on mri scans and hoping something shows up. Will he diagnose seronegative without bloods do you think? I can’t see him until October as spoke to him on the phone and he said face to face at spire are off until at least then he can’t start new meds via telephone calls either and prefers to wait until I can see him again in person. He gave me steroids the last time which was well before lockdown and they massively helped
Hi, I’m not sure if she’s still there but I had the most fantastic rheumatologist, Dr Isla Morrison who I believe is at the Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow (I saw her in Lanarkshire before she moved to Glasgow). She was so easy to talk to and it felt like a partnership when discussing treatment. She moved to Glasgow about 3 years ago and I will be honest I feel my health has got worse since she left.
I’ve seen DR Morrison as well in Hairmyers Hospital, she is very thorough, my first appointment lasted about an hour and a half, she listened and wrote everything down.
She’s so easy to talk to. The only downside is that all her appointments used to run over so I was never taken on time, usually running an hour late, but it was worth it. I really do wish I could be under her care again. The consultant I have now is very cold and uninterested and you’re in and out in 10 minutes.
Yes I agree with you, I was actually shocked the time I was in with her, I did feel bad for the other patients waiting. Mine was an urgent appointment with her and it was slotted in over lunchtime, her afternoon clinic must have ran very late. I’m at another Glasgow rheumatologist now, although she is nice, if it doesn’t show in bloods it’s a no go.
I was diagnosed by Dr McRorie at Edinburgh Spire and he was amazing and I wish I still had him. Straight talking but caring and he listened. Then I transferred to Western General for care. I’m now on my 3rd Rheumy and although my treatment has been good until recently, my current doctor seems fairly uncaring imo and I don’t feel believed all the time which is stressful. I’m wondering how I go about changing doctor when in nhs care. Does anyone know?
