I have been watching Claire’s webcast on Thursday evening on Facebook but this Thursday it going to be on zoom. I have never done zoom and tried to download an app. There are a few so not sure which one I should download.

You need to download that app then (I think) there will be some sort of invitation to click on to get the where you want to be.
It depends. Download zoom.us or, add the app on Android or iPhone. Both have one. Click the link in the invite. It may ask for an ID and password, add those and you’re in. It might not be password protected so might let you straight in. At the bottom left, you will see a mic icon and video. Allow those if you want to. You will need the audio one! It also might say dial in for audio and click that.
