Hi folks, lovely day here at present. Links on the Rheumatology website lead to advice on shielding in Scotland, indicating that we should do so, if advised to, till June 18th. It is still a matter of choice but I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Shield till 18th June, Scotland : Hi folks, lovely day... - NRAS
Shield till 18th June, Scotland
Till at least june 18th ...
As we won't have a vaccine by 18th June, the date will most likely be extended. We could be looking at many months, the best estimates say 12 - 18 months for a vaccine to be mass produced. Some say longer.
I would love to know why you would feel safe after your isolation will the virus be gone by then I really don't get it , as there is no cure for it and I think once we all go out and about again the figures will go up again.
Hi 14penny,
Not clear who your comment is directed to!Perhaps the theory is that after many people staying at home, no socialising etc, the opportunity for community spread of the virus has been diminished to very low unless reintroduced eg by permitting travel by people from areas where infections are still found.
But, like other viral infections, it is very likely to return quickly if we return to normal life too soon; and even when we do have more normal routines again, there is no way to stop another outbreak of SARS-CoV-2.
Defence is required, whether by vaccine or other methods.
Absolutely . I can't wait to be able to visit your beautiful country again but sadly it won't be for a very long timexx
I'm in England and had a text message a couple of days ago saying to shield until at least June 30th. Stat safe.
