As predicted, when I called the surgery a couple of weeks ago and they told me it was on order and no shortage as far as they knew, they were not being entirely honest.
I had been on Zentiva and received Blackrock. I was already on rheumatology's radar because I had a rash which they thought could be the hydroxychloroquine. When they called back and I said I was on a different brand now they said I shouldn't be and have sent some Zentiva over to the surgery for me to collect. I had specifically asked if the prescription would be for Zentiva.
what a palava
Only taken 3 of the Blackrock and haven't suffered any ill effects although the rash I had under my armpits is now on the undersides of my arms (the white bits!) it's very feint and I'm not worried about it.
Meanwhile my symptoms are getting worse and reality is setting in. Interested to know how long it was before other people noticed an improvement in symptoms when taking hydroxy.

When I started them when first diagnosed I was told it can take 12 weeks, but at the same time was given a steroid injection , and I never felt any symptoms or pain after that until I started to flare about 9 months after first taking them .
About 3 months but had steroid injection first which gave immediate relief and bridged the gap until Hydroxy kicked in. Been on it 4 years and no problems. Still very effective and just lowered my dose to one 200 mg per day.
Hydroxychloroquine was the first DMARD I was given for Palindromic/RA. It did improve the flare ups after 6-8 weeks or so but yes, it did give me itchy rashes so I was switched to Methotrexate.
MTX is going ok.
Been on it 8 years.
Now on 15mg but higher doses gave me mouth ulcers in spite of taking one Folic Acid 5 days a week
