Amazing how you can run your life with a computer and mobile phone...

So impressed that I can: - order almost anything I need and get it delivered, discuss my health with Rheumy via email and phone and arrange treatment changes, order repeat prescriptions (even though this was not available to me before Covid), have family dinners in the company of family who are far flung, video call with friends etc.... All this without leaving my home!!

I have time to: enjoy the crafts I love, and to paint, to sit and stare at the sea and mountains from my bedroom windows, to read a book in a day, to learn to speak Italian.

I do still walk the coastal path with my dogs, I just go out earlier to avoid people.

I don't set myself specific timetables - thats a bit tricky with RA, instead I decide when I start moving what I might do today.

The world is peaceful in my locale and beyond, a calmness has evolved, there is a 'mañana' feel about life. It is all ok.

May your day be calm, peaceful and painless xx

I sort of agree, and sort of don’t! I worry that more and more things will stay or move on line post covid which worries me as human interaction is part of being human. Yes great if we learnt to travel less, and have more efficient services but it does make us hugely vulnerable to internet problems.

Where I live the internet is pretty poor - so my video consultation with rheumy was very fuzzy and cut out half way through!

This isolation that they keep on about i was like that before the virus more or less so it is nothing new for me. We have our prescriptions sent straight to the chemist from the hub and they deliver it with anything else we need from the chemist. Hubby goes shopping probally once a week and other times he gets all he needs from our little shop and Martin who owns it is working over and above the call of duty.xxxx

I too am making the most of the situation we find ourselves in, and in the main am thoroughly enjoying it, although not the circumstances have put us here.

The peace and quiet, the return of nature are most welcome have all been enhanced by the spell of good weather.

I am doing things I haven't done in years, I feel little pressure its wonderful.

And apart from food, books, a few downloads I haven't purchased anything for weeks, so am spending much less. I'm not a big consumer anyway.

I do have concerns that things that should not stay on line, might just do so....adult education for example, but it is up to us to make sure it doesn't.

Thank you for the positive, uplifting post Brushwork - believe me I really needed it this morning. I am imaging you live in a beautiful location with sea views and mountains and am picturing it all in my mind! Hope the Italian is going well - I learned a little bit for a holiday last year and found it lovely and flowing - much more do than Spanish which I know better so I'm going to give it a try. Thanks again for a lovely post.

Thanks for a lovely uplifting post. In a strange way it has it's merits as people are starting to discover and learn new things, have had to slow their pace down and re invent new ways of doing things and learning to live life without leaving their home. However that social interaction and physical connection with people and the community cannot be replaced. Especially if alone and shielding. That touch, hug, kiss and the banter, sharing laughter, a coffee, a face to face chat and consoling a loved one, friend, neighbour or someone in the community is key to our physical, emotional and mental well being. Again getting out, if you are stuck in a flat with no view must be so hard to deal with right now. As seeing nature, such as the sea, the mountains, rivers, wildlife is also good for our well being. So I agree that we can run our lives pretty well from home in some respects and there certainly are merits to it and as you say we can break down those tasks each day. I think it's a balance of both worlds and if anything this virus is making me think what is important to me and how do I move forward in the days ahead with the choices I make in the future. So thanks for posting this as it certainly gives food for thought.

While I appreciate the ease of running the mundane aspects of my life, I so so miss the human interaction. The hugs when I meet family, the chat and gossip with friends, even the exchange of gossip. This new life makes me grateful for what I have but it feels cold, impersonal almost inhuman
