My right pinky is swollen and is painful when I press on the joints, and I noticed I have this bump on the side that is very hard like bone. It makes my finger look deformed. You can’t see it very well in the picture, but when I run my finger over it, it is very noticeable. I was wondering if this looks like something associated with RA. I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease with features of RA, dermatomyositis, and Sjogren’s. I am wondering if I should call my rheumatologist or my primary doctor.

Hard Bump/Nodule on Pinky
My advice is if in doubt ring the rheumy, they can always tell you if it is something to worry about. xxx
Yes give them a call as it could be lots of things .
Hi Searcher24. I have something similar on my left index. In fact I have two very hard bumps that are deforming my finger; however they are causing me no pain and have been there for a long time. When I showed them to my rheumatologist she said it was normal wear and tear (I am 45 years old). But of course this may be something different for you so would be worth checking out (especially as your finger is swollen and painful). Hang in there
It's common to develop thickenings around the joints that have been inflamed. It's not usually anything to be worried about unless the swelling is boggy and red.
