Hubby went shopping

Well off went hubby with a shopping list. Couldn’t find things in the shop even though list was done isle by isle he ended up on FaceTime with me directing like a game show ( I’m good) unpacking shopping things not on the list bought

1) 50 Tunnocks tea cakes

2) large trifle

3) 2 packs of 16 4 bar kitkats

4) double pack mint clubs

5)8 mint magnum ice creams

6) 3 extra large Easter eggs

None of which I ever buy🙄 when questioned his reply I bought them for you

If I don’t get an online shopping slot soon......

50 tunnocks! I have teacake envy :)

in reply to dawkin_S

Mmm his argument doesn’t stand . He bought 30 last week saying they are for you. I don’t like them I told my husband... barely eaten all week and not 1 passed my lips.. now 50 !!! 😂

Yes my daughter had complained her fiancé will keep buying tinned tomato soup, beans and all manner of carbs (like your OH) that they never eat.

Sounds like a virtual edition of Supermarket Sweep....maybe these extras were bonus buys. As for Tunnocks....don't mind if I do! I like the coconut covered ones best.

My favourite the coconut ones

I don't know about you but I don't see them as often so always buy a few when I do.

No I don't think they are around as much. When we were young my aunt used to come to our house for a bath as she had no bathroom, and she always brought packets of biscuits. The coconut ones included. She worked as a cashier in the local co-op. She didn't need to bring anything it was always nice to see her. So I've enjoyed them a long time!

What are they?

Tunnocks chocolate wafer biscuits coated in coconut. I don't generally have a sweet tooth but these are a treat when you can find them.

Sound awful..but then I’m the funny one who doesn’t like chocolate!

I prefer savoury things on the whole but these are nice. My downfall is crisps and nuts.

That sounds delightful! Glad my hubby wouldn’t bring them home to me! When he went shopping, he brought me M&Ms and himself a HUGE bag of salt water taffy! 😂

Strewth! Do I diabetes calling? That's an awful lot of sugar but, oooh, I'd love some

Yep sounds like my hubby when he went shopping he came back with 2 enormous easter eggs and my face clearly said why? Re packaging and so large.....If I want to buy my wife and I an easter egg I will was his response. Underneath them was another layer of crap then all the veggies and fruit and stuff I had requested!

I think I’d be more cross he’s gone to the shop when you’re shielding 😔

in reply to KittyJ

He is shielding too and we have no one close(parents elderly and rest of family 2-3hrs away) so one of us has to go out! He has no spleen and no antibiotics due to being done as a 2yr old.

He is incredibly careful and he goes in vulnerable slots which are very quiet in a huge supermarket.

AgedCrone profile image
AgedCrone in reply to

But where would we be if everybody did that.....shielding really does mean stay home!

We have nurses & doctors dying because they are looking after CV19 patients...please don’t let him go out again.

in reply to AgedCrone

Please see my response to kitty J

KittyJ profile image
KittyJ in reply to

But he’s not shielding and there are delivery options for those told they must shield, it’s much safer.

in reply to KittyJ

I’m in the same position. I cannot get a online shopping slot spend hours everyday even the vulnerable ones are impossible. If my husband doesn’t shop we have no food. We take every precaution..

choose a time when let’s the least busy . We rang and asked the store.

He’s armed with gloves and disinfectant.

Food is left outside where I and my son are gloved up . We wash disinfect and dry everything.

Husband strips at the door clothes straight in the washing machine. He showers.

Not ideal but when you have no other option what do you do?

KittyJ profile image
KittyJ in reply to

The difference is you both haven’t been told to shield. Deeb and her husband both have. Neither should be going out. There are other options than supermarket shopping too it’s been discussed at length on here.

in reply to KittyJ

I believe Dee lives on an isolated area options drastically reduced

And the other daughter’s partner will keep buying pasta. Artisan type though. Well he is Italian so I suppose it’s an important staple for him.

I love Tunnocks tea cakes and trifle (mouth drooling). I always though Magnums were part of a weight-loss programme! 😋

Nice one👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 that put a smile on my face 🤣🤣🤣

Very thoughtful of him, he obviously wants to make his nearest and dearest as happy as he can during this difficult time....just a typical bloke really! :-)

Brilliant. Much more imaginative than toilet rolls. My husband is sitting laughing - he’s very impressed.

Thankfully my husband hasnt come back with such stuff but like you he goes out with a list but I still have to talk him through it.Also,if they havent got the exact item he struggles to think of an alternative so has to check!I mustn't complain though,I appreciate what he's

doing.
