Can you cut Amytriptaline tablets in half?

If I take 3 I don't sleep very well and have broken sleep the whole night, if I take 4 I either sleep until lunchtime the next day or wake up about 7 and become a zombie for most of the day. Can I safely cut these tablets in half and take them? 3.5 might be my lucky dose.

Hiya not being obstructive as I know this will be hard to do but really this is one to talk to your doctor about. Its medical advice you need. But I do sympathise , getting the dosage of drugs right is difficult sometimes xx

Agreed, it's not something we could advise and would recommend seeking medical advice before doing so. As allanah says it is difficult getting dosage of drugs right and again with all that is going on right now it's hard in general, but please seek advice before doing anything. It's horrible when you either don't get sleep or too much and feel like a zombie so you have my sympathy there. As Allanah says it’s medical advice really but the rule is if a tablet has a groove down the middle it can be cut. Never open capsules or cut coated tablets. Do check with drs before changing your dosages though.
