Strange Pains with RA medication?

Lately I have been experiencing these random sharp pains all over my body at random times during the day. I take Arava for my RA. My wrists hurt and it was working like a charm and now suddenly it doesn't work well. I thought these random pains which are like sharp nerve pains were weird and are getting hard to ignore. Has anyone else had this problem?

Random , sharp pains can be part of RD. Many people experience them and they can be very sore and distracting.

It sounds as if maybe you need a medicine adjustment ? Perhaps it is time to contact your rheumatologist ? Good luck.

I had neuro problems on leflunomide (Arava), it is a side effect. Mine were predominantly a fizzing sensation & carpal tunnel symptoms, do you think you can relate to that? I recognised the CT symptoms having have CT release previously. My Rheumy referred me to Neurology who performed nerve conduction/nerve velocity & electromyograph & diagnosed bilateral peripheral neuropathy & carpal tunnel, RH. LEF was halted & tests repeated, the result was improvement. The longer I was off it the easier the symptoms became & now have gone completely, aside from slight CT symptoms if flaring.

Please talk to your Rheumy about your symptoms, I guess you will anyway if you think it's not working as well as it had been.

I have strange random pains at random sites of my body.

They started like insect bites,now they are getting more like nerve pain.im glad it isn’t just me .i thought. I was cracking up !

LOL no you're not cracking up. Aparently it is a side effect of the medication

I’ve had the insect bite bit for years,I think I’ll have to put up with the side effects cos I am getting relief from my lupus symptoms.thanks for the advice from. I really thought. I really thought. I was going funny

I suggest you speak to your RA nurse. Arava didn’t work very well for me so my consultant put me on something else. Don’t hang about, do something now ! All the best x
