I was on paracetamol and codeine for the first year of my RA journey. Once the methotrexate started working, I reduced the dose each week by one tablet a day. It was painful for a few days each time but within four or five days the pain had subsided. Codeine was causing me serious digestive issues, so I had a tremendous incentive.
Good luck with this, I hope that methotrexate is doing its work for you and once you are no longer taking co-codamol you find that you no longer need regular painkillers of any sort.
achyknitter thank you this is encouraging as you have done it too. I don't like taking them and I am a great believer on being on bare minimum drugs so hoping this works. This time last year I was on pre RA diagnosis pregabline, naproxen, plus candestran, nefopam and vits . Now just on candestran, omzepralane, vits and minerals and MTX and 2 max co codomol a day so a huge change
