Is there any cure for dizziness. This is extreme dizziness. I have had it for about 4 months now. None of the doctors or consultants know the reason for it. I have had all the scans, also ear investigations, and medications, but the only answer I get is 'I don't know'. I am 74 years old, male and fit. Or at least I was until this. My daughter takes me out in the car and a wheelchair. Even that gives no release. The constant buffeting in the car (which you generally don't feel,) is terrible..... the same in the wheelchair.

It began (I think) with a cyst on my lumbar region. I was told that would heal on its own, which it did, but I began to feel more and more dizzy. It has reached the point where if I stand up, I fall over. I have had 3 bad falls now. I have to use a zimmer frame for moving about and I am confined to the home now. I have even fallen with the zimmer. There is no release from it, morning to night. It doesn't matter if I am sitting or laid down..... dizzinesss all the time. I can't drive now, it would be foolish to even try.

Has any of you suffered with it.... any advice?

I am at my wits end now with it. No one knows what to do.

Any suggestions?????

Hiya, this sounds awful. I get dizziness from time to time and manage to sort mine out by doing the Brandt-Daroff exercise. Worth a Google if you haven't already heard of it. Good luck.

I am aware of the Brandt-Daroff exercise, also the Epley maneuvre. However neither of them gives me any relief. Thanks for the reply.

Oh how wretched for you! The trouble with dizziness is that there are different symptoms; unsteadiness, light headedness or vertigo and loads of different causes. Have you been to a balance clinic?

Has any one mentioned Labrynthitis?

I’m not offering a diagnosis, but I get bouts of it & your symptoms sound similar ...maybe it’s too simple for consultants to think of?

The first time I had it my GP diagnosed Meniéres disease...but when I saw my ENT consultant she immediately said Labrynthitis. It’s a viral ear infection that comes back to visit every few years....vey unpleasant......but controllable.

Maybe ask your GP for a referral to a vestibular disturbance physiotherapist .....it might might help?

Hope you get it sorted....any form of dizziness or vertigo is really horrid.
