Chicken pox : My grandson has just been diagnosed I... - NRAS
Chicken pox
Have you had chickenpox? Although you can catch it again, it’s not that common. And you don’t catch shingles from someone with chickenpox, you only get it if the virus left over from you having chicken pox is reactivated.
So if your grandson didn’t have open blisters then chances are you won’t pick it up, especially if you’ve already had chicken pox. Personally I wouldn’t worry too much as MTX doesn’t suppress your immune system hugely it just compromises it a bit. So I would only hot foot it to GP if I felt I had any symptoms.
But I’m not you. So if you feel better not injecting until you’ve spoken to your nurse then a week off won't make a huge amount of difference. It’s always good to get your own doctor’s advice.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ANY SYMPTOMS IN YOURSELF, IF BECOME SYMPTOMATIC STOP MTX AND HEAD FOR THE GP AS SOON AS POSS FOR ANTI VIRALS.
Just take your mtx as usual. Half my class had chicken pox last year and as I’ve had it before I was fine. If you have had it before then you are probably immune. Just go straight to the doctor if you start having symptoms in a couple of weeks as CP has a 2 week incubation period. Also if you’re going to catch it from him it’s too late and not taking your mtx won’t make any difference. 🙂
Thanks all it turns out the doctor said it’s hand foot and mouth ! Poor thing it seems quite common now .
