Hi all, today should be mxt by injection day,but by mistake took folic acid this morning stupid realised just after I swallowed it ! Would like to inject today as next Saturday is our 50th wedding anniversary party for over 100 people so need to feel Ok, as sometimes the day after is not good. I know you shouldn't do both on same day but just once would it hurt? Like to have opinions please soon.

It is likely to reduce its effect slightly. Personally when I was on methotrexate I would have gone ahead and done the injection to keep to the pattern which suited me best. I remember that the day of injection and the one after were no activity days for me.

My consultant told me to take it the same day as mtx, said it made no difference. I queried it with my specialist nurse because everyone else seems to be told not to. She told me she'd done extensive research into it and also said it makes no difference. I've been taking it on mtx day for several years now and I've been okay, im also in remission.

Hi, I've also done this and not realised until after I'd taken the MXT! No side effects at all so I'd just go ahead! Enjoy your celebration next week too!😁

Hi, Bhasvic64,

If it was me, I would probably do the injection anyway!!

We take folic acid supplement for the side effects, so should be OK!!

What I don't get is why we are all told to do different things regarding folic acid!! Do they make it up as they go along??

Hope that you have a fantastic anniversary next Saturday

Thank you pinklamb really quite nervous /excited about party how to cope with so many people but equally great to see them all. Decided to ditch mxt injection this week as I don't want to have Saturday next week as My Day. Fingers crossed for next week!

Many Americans take folic acid 7 days a week, and doesn’t seem to affect them negatively.

Was just going to say this. Americans take it on the same day. Funny how advice differs.

I'm in the U.S. and yes, we are told to take folic acid every day, and there are no special instructions as far as spacing them even a few hours apart. When I asked my rheumatologist about skipping it on the day I take methotrexate his verbatim response was: "I don't know where you read that, but it's wrong."

Mine said the same thing....I take it daily. Even on shot day..

I did the same thing yesterday, swallowed the folic acid then realised that I was taking the methotrexate that night, I asked for an advise at the chemist, (as the nurse hadn't called me back) the chemist said so long as there was a 12 hour gap between the two medications it would be fine. Took the Methotrexate last, was a bit nervous that I may feel worse this morning, but I feel fine. Hope your ok.

Thank you all for your help and opinions maybe I'll let you know how the party goes we have a marquee but the forecast is not good hey ho!!

The weather means nothing. For my 30th my husband took me on a long hill walk and packed a birthday picnic. It rained all day but it has been the best picnic ever.

Can still eat but the hill walking is beyond me now 😂😂

Enjoy your day 🍾

Shouldn’t think it would hurt.. when I was on Mtx I often took them both on the same day by mistake.

I also missed taking the Mtx for two weeks when I forgot to take it away with me... had no obvious effect as it stays in our body a long time.

Happy Anniversary 🍸💐🍸
