Special assistance
Always good to know. Thanks
Thank you for bringing this to everyone’s attention.
I highly recommend people use special assistance. I often cannot walk much after flights, so being met with a wheelchair is helpful. They usually meet you after everyone else has got off the flight which means you’re not trying to get off the plane with the hustle and bustle of the other passengers.
I agree.. I have done it several times now and it means you don't have to stand to check in either if you have a suitcase that is too large for the cabin. I have also had some holiday companies provide a taxi transfer from airport to resort when they couldn't guarantee that the coach at the airport would be accessible/low steps/tail lift. The ambulift vehicle from departure gate to plane is invaluable if the plane steps are too steep and there isn't an airbridge onto the plane. Each pre-flight is so different you never know how it will go. My local airports refer to the wheelchair assist as "Sierra assist" but I just say wheelchair at ariport and ambulift into and out of plane, when I request. If you an provide a letter stating why you need a taxi to your resort from the airport some holiday firms will let you have this free of charge. My GP has never charged me. Worth an ask anyhow. Means, as you say, no crush with other passengers, getting on anf off.
