Hi all, I been going to my RA doctor almost 3 years an now he is getting ready to retire. I don't like going to new doctors. I feel like I am getting ready to start this process all over again. Please Pray for me🙏😫

Hi Quee

It's same time with RA for me too and I know what you mean.

For me, I was pleased to change my Rheumy as my first one spoke like he could not feel and that was a definite no no for me. I needed to be allowed to express and to be understood especially in the early days. I now have a lovely female Consultant who is easy to talk with. In some instances change can be in your favour so perhaps your current Rheumy retiring will bring in a fresh, enthusiastic and proactive new one to the team.

Positive thinking! X

Praying for you Mumma 🙏 xxx

Sometimes this can be fo the best. I saw the same GP for years with my symptoms he was a lovely man who listened. When he retired I had to see a young pre reg GP . I thought this is going to be a waste of time. How wrong was I . He grasped my problems straight away told me he believed I had RA and i got a rheumatologist appointment within weeks. I think younger Doctors can be more open minded and more up to date with medical advances. Maybe your new consultant is one of these 🤞🏻

Hi Quee, not all changes are bad, the new docs now seem to be “on it” they are fresh eyes into your condition and mine have a great bedside manner unlike some of the specialists I’ve seen, good luck! I’ll be praying 🙏🏼🤗x

Hi, I was in the same situation as you, however it was the best thing that ever happened to me. My consultant before was never there appointments were cancelled all the time. He refused to treat me for 6 years saying there wasn’t a treatment suitable etc etc. I don’t know your experience with the rheumy you’ve been seeing for the last 3 years but I can only say that in my experience sometimes getting a new consultant is life changing and a very positive experience. I wish you luck.
