Far from the Madding Crowd?

dembonesDAMNBONES profile image

Chill out, me time...a vital component in overall wellbeing and one that many forget, caught up in problems of everyday life like family, work, bills and pain, yeah, especially that, right?

Me, I'm off to a pal's to watch back to back DVD's, drink beer and eat curry.

I'm not suggesting everyone pigs out and gets drunk, unless they're so inclined, but it's that aspect of spoiling yourself for a brief time that many forget.

Tell those around you "Away and geez peace!" Or "Off with you, ruffians, and desist from your constant demands!"

I can see a few of you opting for more earthy phrases! Lol.

However you go about it, be firm and insistent.

You aren't on this planet to please everyone else.

An earlier thread brought this home to me in a heartbreaking manner!

You all know who you are and I'm proud to have taken part.

Those who care will understand and allow you a brief span of space and time to relax, gather your thoughts and so on.

Enjoy the rest of your day and have a peaceful night. :)

It is so important just to have time to yourself. Great post.

Thank you!

I should have subtitled it: Selfishness Sometimes Saves Sanity. Lol.

Time and again, I'm reading of folk on here that drive themselves into utter exhaustion, due to committments or pride and that, long term, takes it's toll, giving them less chance to strike a balance, or the OH/members of the family/friends, have little concern, little understanding or only have their own interests at heart and offer little to no support whatsover.

Anyway, glad you liked it.

Same to you Kalimer, I missed being here with everyone. I still have Rheumatoid Arthritis unfortunately!

It's a battle and a half isn't it. I was doing better. The pros were losing a few pounds, feeling less sluggish due to good eating and staying mindful of the damage stress can do. The cons are recurrent UTI's with some of the treatments. More so Biologics. That's created a one step forward two steps back scenario for some time now. Seeing Rheumy again this month. No idea of her next plan, just hope she's got one! Trying to keep mobile each day but get floored with fatigue. My mountain bike has been staring at me and how I would love to go cycling but right now I would likely fall off! Getting help with strengthening exercises from physio so there's hope.

Hope your doing well. xx

I’m not too bad thanks although I’m a bit of a one handed woman at the moment as my left hand is swollen and v painful but on the plus side my feet are good and I can walk again which is oxygen for me so I’d rather have it that way. It’s amazing how quickly you can lose mobility and muscle. My arms are beginning to look like an 80 year old’s!

Don’t disappear again if possible!

There are some good looking 80 year olds out there! It's the new 60 I believe so don't despair - just yet!

ps - I won't. 😁
