Im taking weekly mtx 15mg injections and this is the third time in four months my left hand has been red blothy and itchy all over. It seems to be underneath the skin and not like a rash that appears on the surface. Very uncomfortable at times. Has anyone else had this while taking mtx injections for RA ?

Not had that whilst on 15mg MXT but I've woken up this morning with pins and needles in my left hand! It seems like one thing after another with MXT! I would mention it to your specialist nurse or ring your helpline if you have one to see if they can clarify. I dont know what to do - I've never had pins and needles before in 5 months and dont know whether to ring helpline or just hope it goes away 😁😁 Hope you find out what's causing your problem and good luck.
I honestly wouldn’t have thought it’s anything to do with methotrexate.
I often wake up with pins & needles in my arms & hands.
You have probably slept with your neck at a wonky angle and compressed a nerve for a little while......I bet it will wear off by lunch time.
Relax, enjoy your weekend & do try not to blame every little ache and pain on methotrexate ....you would probably have got pins and needles without being on it!
If it lasts..do call your rheumy nurse....just to double check.......but tbh if it is an unusual side-effect of Mtx...it’s sure better than the pain it’s helping to alleviate.....Isn’t it?
I think you got my reply to Dobcross...I just said my hands often look like that & my rheumy said not to worry...but do ask your rheumy nurse when you see her.
I’m not sure sure it doesn’t look like a reaction. Don’t mean to scare you but a work colleague of mine had something similar and it turned out to be Psoriasis Arthritis not saying it’s what you have but best get it checked
I have read alot about Psoriasis Arthritis in the hands and I dont think is it thank goodness. Must be a side effect of MTX so Im gona see the rheumy nurse bext month.
Red palms are very common in Rheumatoid Disease. I have them (and on my feet as well) and they are often itchy. Not to do with the medication but the disease. I haven't found anyone interested in them or any relief with the many treatments I have been on, sorry.
I find that I can get itchy fingers, hands and this is when the inflammation is causing swelling , warmth etc and can get quite itchy. This happened before Mtx, during it and after so mine is the RA inflammation not the meds!
Yes I have noticed the itchy red hand is warmer and a little bit of swelling than the other. Im not in a panic about.. its just never happened before and the itch sorta comes and goes through out the day.
