Just read someones post and lost it but saw this the other day.
New research suggests that tooth loss – a marker for periodontal (gum) disease – may predict rheumatoid arthritis and its severity. The more teeth lost, the greater the risk of RA, one study found.

I’ve always had amazing teeth , 48 yrs old 2 fillings and then boom 💥 RA I’d diagnosed 10 months ago and my first tooth extraction last week .. omg I hope this isn’t going to be a thing !!
If that is the same research I read awhile back it starts off by saying of new people presenting with arthritis ........those with the fewest teeth prior to diagnosis had the severest form of RA...but as I recall it ended up saying even those with a whole mouthful of teeth also got severe arthritis.....and that everyone with or without RA should take care of their teeth.
So I guess it just means make sure you see a dentist regularly!.
I am lucky & still have all my own teeth...got a few fillings, but basically teeth are OK.
But I have a friend who also still has all her teeth at 70+, with no fillings, no RA, but she needs to see a hygienist every 6 weeks because she has severe gum disease.
So as I say .... making sure you get your teeth checked regularly is the best we can do.
It does seem from reports I have read if you never go to the dentist,it can come back to bite you ......(sorry couldn’t resist!)
Ive lost 5 teeth in the last 5 years (thats how long ive had RA) I always thought it was because i live near a nuclear plant - Sellafield - I blame sellafield for my RA or my husband - stress !
I had really bad glandular fever once at 19 and once again a year after. On my research f this illness I looked up if any link and there is research between the 2 being done. I was never the same with my health after that and all about immune system.
Yep... this immune system of ours takes all the hits... emotional upset , physical problems affect it, it’s hard enough trying to work and keep going without having to sweet talk our immune system into behaving😉.
I am trying the boot camp approach at the moment to immune system as in that flow at moment. Sweet talk - will chat to hubby see if he can approach it that way for me! haha
