Just watched my local news and they showed the NRAS video. They also showed a local woman who suffers with RA . They called it a hidden disability. She has been abused in the past for using her blue badge and described how the rheumatoid part of the disease effects her and the how the arthritis part effects her. Never thought to separate the 2 before but will now.

RA on my local news
My joints are the least difficult part of RD to deal with, fatigue and tenosynovitis are my big issues.
Fantastic raising awareness in RA awareness week. I'm enjoying the pilates and mindfulness NRAS sessions
RA was featured on Woman’s Hour this morning too. Worth listening to it on BBC Sounds if you missed it earlier.
Raising awareness can only be a good thing.
At least the word Rheumatoid is now making an appearance.....
True. A campaign outlining the difference between the different arthritic conditions would be wonderful too but baby steps eh?
Don’t hold your breath G....look how long it has taken to actually use\add the word Rheumatoid.
When you think about it....just a few sentences starting with something like“Rheumatoid Arthritis in NOT just another name for OSTEO Arthritis”....might alert somebody?
I’m still struggling to sort out what causes what.
I have RA ,Lupus, asthma,Sjogrens and an Interstitial lung sisease which they tell me is life limiting.
Just keep on keeping on.
Never heard this said before J1707, can you explain more please?
Ok I will try only got to watch it once. She explained Rheumatoid Arthritis is not the same as osteoarthritis as many think.
The Arthritis part is the joints and mobility.
The Rheumatoid part is inflammation to the body as our own body attack’s it’s self. Imagine the flu how it effects you ... the fatigue , fevers , aches and pains all of which stop you living a normal life . You could be fine one moment next feel like you have the flu it can last minutes , days , weeks or months this inflammation this is the Rheumatoid it causes the arthritis in our joints. Hope I remembered here explanation correctly.
Hiya J. Would be interested to see this, didn’t see anything on mine last night unfortunately. Can you let us know which region your local news is & if it was BBC or ITV please? PM me if you'd rather not reveal here.
