A little intro to me & a cry for help!

Hi I am a 26 year old woman suffering with multiple health conditions, more recently I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis & at the moment I'm struggling to understand why this has happened at such a young age & how I am supposed to look after myself. I am on the list to have my sheath in my left wrist cut to relieve pressure, but whilst waiting I'm really struggling to deal with the pain & understanding if I need to completely restrict movement of my hand & wrist. Having tried several types of hand/wrist supports I'm having no luck, please can someone help me!

Is it Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Philip? Sorry if spelling is wrong. That poor little soul. It's bad enough for us adults but, kids?

I also use the wrist supports but sometimes I have to use a heat pack along with strong ibuprofen gel. This helps along with painkillers. Hope you feel better soon.

Have you found a particular support useful? I recently ordered a copper infused support from dr arthritis, if my hands weren't so tiny I think it would do the job but its giving me a lot a jip at the moment! I do use a keto cream but just very cautious as I'm allergic to ibuprofen 😔🙈 thanyou for your kindness

If you visit the NRAS website, nras.org.uk/about-ra you will find that 26 isn't the youngest age to have RA. Not unusual (sadly) for children to get Juvenile Idiopathic JIA as Philip mentioned in his post. But stick with this forum and you will find lots of wonderful people who will be able to advise you.

And if they don't reply to you, they are always ready to listen to your rant/moan/complaint and will even, I'm sure, agree to let you compliment someone, if you feel they deserve it. Keep posting, keep asking and we will keep listening and try to keep answering.

Hi and welcome

I have spent a fortune on all sorts if supports I find it very much hit and miss. Your right there is not much information out there and limited support. GPS in general know very little and just fish out painkillers.

I personally wish there was a clinic you could go to (separate from the consultant) where they can check you more individually and give help with physio podiatrist etc rather than having to fight for an appointment or a referral then waiting for an appointment. I once had 3 separate physios one for my hip one for my back and one for my feet. Was told each one only deals with a Pacific area. Work were not happy as appointments were in the daytime .

This forum is better than most medics.
