Hi Everyone. I normally eat a very healthy diet but am having problems now eating anything because of dry mouth, bitter taste (metallic), nausea. I'm presuming this is a side effect of the drugs I'm on (Methatrexate, Folic Acid, Hydroxychloriquine, Sulfasalazine). I'm trying to maintain as much variety as possible but everything tastes really nasty and I'm only able to manage small quantities. Anyone found any way round this? I am drinking lots of water.
diet: Hi Everyone. I normally eat a very healthy diet... - NRAS

The metallic taste is not pleasant, Ilike you I ate small regular quantities rather than meals. I did find carbohydrates helped ease the nausea and no sugar, which seemed to really set things going.
I’d ask your rheumy nurse for a drug review....I was sick every day on SSZ, & had the metallic taste with Mtx...but because it was working so well,I stayed on it for 7 years,.....eventually I didn’t notice the taste unless I went too long without food. I tended to eat a lot of grapes & juicy apples.
Always had a pocket full of mints though!
Thank you, I will request a review and in the meantime get some mints! I find fresh fruit is the one food I enjoy but will also try snacking on other things more regularly. V grateful for your input, this condition is fairly new to me.
Hi there Im taking the same meds as you and this bad taste goes away after a week or so. If not call your rheumatologist.
