So my knee is hurting for a 2nd day... It hurts even when not moving it, mostly behind the knee but also below kneecap at front almost radiating down shin?!
Feel unbalanced if that makes sense, trying to stand on both legs one feels longer lol 😂 I’ve had it before when a knee has played up. Does that make sense to anyone or am I crazy?!
Anyway on to my question, I understand you can’t use the voltatol gel at the same time as taking other NASID meds, I’ve just had a dose of oral ibuprofen but think applying the voltatol 2.32% gel might help more targeting inflammation directly. Can I use it after 4-6 hours when another ibuprofen dose would’ve been due?

I'd ring NHS direct or GP to ask as we are'nt medically qualified and this is really a medical question. But hopefully someone who does use it can tell you there experiences.
Personally, & speaking from experience as I've used both 1.16% & 2.32% Voltarol gel, I wouldn't. I take a stronger NSAID but ibuprofen will build up & be more effective the more you take it so I'd continue with the ibuprofen until you can speak to someone medical, your GP or rheumy nurse. As it is you should only apply 2.32% Voltarol gel twice daily, which may not be adequate anyhow if it's paining you so much. You could always ask your GP to prescribe a prescription NSAID, that may be better in the long run.
You could try either applying heat or cold compress to the knee, whichever you respond to best, obviously resting it as often as you can.
I have used both without a problem. I have had knee problems for years after falling skiing. I need a replacement but my rheumy wants me to wait. I saw a chiropractor that said because I am favoring knee, one leg was half and inch shorter than the other prior to adjusting. That might explain why one of yours feels shorter!
Oh goodness poor you! I guess they want you to wait because of the lifetime of the replacement joint? I suppose it’s instinct to protect the injured joint and to favour the less painful one.
My knee has improved a lot and I’m feeling less lopsided now. My pains have been moving around all week.
All the best to you and hope your surgery goes wonderfully when you eventually get there!
