Hi everyone hope you all are coping well, just a quick question on how long do the steriod shots usually last as my first shot was last summer and I forget how long it lasted being pain free. I did get my second on Thursday past just the one. Ps if your in the UK like me there is a storm on the way.....again. 😐

I have steroid shot when RA get bad to settle it down. Almost instant relief😃. They seem to last a couple of months by which time my regular medication starts working again.

And as for that storm coming in.....Errr, yeah I’m tracking it. Supposed to be flying out to Cologne on Wednesday afternoon from stanstead. Could be a bumpy ride!😳

I will not be having said injection as dr concerned has been involved in a accident and is on his way to hospital. Sorry he is hurt, but just can't believe my luck. Sad.xx

I find steroid shots last 6 weeks for me it depends on the version I’m given. They only make things slightly more bearable but when I’m given them I’m usually in a bad way so very grateful for any relief. I hope you have long lasting effects we are all different so hopefully you’ll be a lucky one and be pain free for several months.

I have found over the years that the first one lasts for a few months but thereafter the efficacy steadily reduces, depending on the frequency. The less frequent the longer each effect.

I have had quite a few steroid shots but have found that the last three have not worked at all. To begin with, they were wonderful and lasted about three months or even more and I used to think of it as "having a little steroid rest." Later on, it got so that they only lasted about four or five weeks, and now nothing improves at all which is very disappointing. So I suppose that the less you can manage with the better it is in the long run. My pain is so bad just now and knowing that a steroid injection will not do any good is very disheartening.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond. Fingers crossed this will last a couple of months as I will be starting MTX injections soon plus starting a new job next week so im praying I will cope ok as my flare up were pretty bad last few months back.
