Liver function test up after switching to injection. Coincidence? How worried should I be?

Hello dear people. Can’t believe I’m posting on here again so soon. Let me explain. I had a nasty reaction liver wise to sulfasalazine. This was in the early days of the arthritis. Got switched to MTX and have had completely stable results since then.

In January I switachd from 22.5 tablet to 17.5 injection.

Today my ALT is up.

I am pretty scared to be honest. If it’s not because of the MTX what is it? I’ve got ulcerative colitis so worried about primary sclerosing cholanvitis or whatever’s the hell its called. Also could I have fatty liver from wing on prednisone? As you can see my pessimistic imagination is having a field day with this one!

No word from the rheum nurses yet.

Would welcome any advice!!!

This probably won’t help. But my liver results have been up for a year and a half 😢 Monthly blood tests is the norm for me☹️ It does get all too much sometimes. 😡

When you inject MTX rather than take tablets, it by passes your stomach and you get more of the dose, so this could affect your liver function result. This is why we have to have our blood tested regularly. Your rheumy will keep their eye on it, and if it gets higher than they want it to be, they will stop you using it and change your meds.
