MTX and joint pain

I had stopped all my RA meds several months ago to give CBD oil a try. I was on prednisone daily, MTX injections, Rituxan infusions, folic acid...started seeing a new rheumy who suggested that I restart the MTX at a higher dose. I’ve been on these injections for almost 4 weeks and have the severe fatigue and some nausea so I started taking it at night. Helped the nausea but I’ve slept a big chunk of the last 2 days. I see those side effects but the past couple of days I have had severe joint pain, even worse than before. It’s improving some now. My question is has anyone experienced joint pain with the MTX injections.

Hi, sorry to hear of the MTX reactions—I became like a zombie on the MTX pills—& the doc tried lowering the dose to no effect—I got pneumonia which the doc finally admitted probably had to do with MTX—I wondered how CBD worked for you—I use some cream & tinctures & it seems to take the edge off—I’m sure it w oils be better to work with someone on dosing etc—but I don’t have anyone st the moment.

I stopped the meds after I had tried the CBD oil for a bit. It was amazing the first month. The second month not at all. I realized the first month I had the full spectrum (with THC) and the second month without. I read some info on it and the THC helps with inflammation/pain. I have some full spectrum again and am anxious to see how it helps.

How long were you off all your meds/when was your last rituxan infusion? As could just be the natural progression of the disease without drugs, and 4 weeks on MTX has not been long enough to get it controlled again.

I was off the meds 2-3 months. It was amazing the first month.

Unfortunately this is what usually happens when meds are stopped abruptly. Your body has gotten used to the meds in good and bad. They are strong and powerful in many respects.I do not know where you got your information about CBD oil but it must have been very halting. Yes CBD oil can be very useful in RA but can never be the only strategy. The best help you can get in using alternative treatments with or without meds comes from Functional medical doctors. It's hard to make treatment decisions without help.Good Luck. Simba

I’m seeing a new rheumy now who explained to me why I shouldn’t use just the oil. It doesn’t stop the disease progression. It was so great the first month (with THC). The second month I didn’t have THC and when I researched it I found out that the THC is what helps with inflammation/pain. Hoping my new bottle will get better results.
