I’m carol and I am trying to find ways to help me with my day to day activities and to feel in control of my condition 😁
Hello: I’m carol and I am trying to find ways to help... - NRAS
Hello
Hi Carol, what activities are you having trouble doing? There’s lots of aids and adaptations out there, more specific difficulties would help in finding you a solution.
You don’t say what meds you are on or how long since you were diagnosed. It can take some time sometimes to find the best meds for each person.
Hi Carol, sorry to hear that you are struggling physically and emotionally. Help with day to day activities come in many forms and there are plenty of gadgets to help. Some of the simplest changes make a big difference. Turn over easily in bed by wearing silky fabrics, give the door key more leverage for easy turning by attaching a large curtain ring, buy electric can and jar openers, on bad days choose clothes that are easy, accept help when it is offered and even ask for it...I know that can be hard!
Hopefully the meds will help to gain back the feeling of being in control of the disease but in the meantime remember that RA can fluctuate a lot so today's pain and stiffness is not the same as tomorrow's or next weeks. RA is just one bit of our amazing body that rebels against us when so many other bits of us still want to work well. Good luck.
Hi Carol, your question is very general, so I am reluctant to make suggestions. Have you had a look at the NRAS website? If you can't find what you are looking for there, you can also ring their help desk. They are really helpful and knowledgeable. All the best.
