My fingers are misshapen with spurs sticking out, these are red & sore, every little task is painful. This has just come on this past week. I am on 20mgm Methotrexate, and have been Ok for the past year since I went on it, Do these spurs go away? advice please

Sounds like you need a visit to the GP or Rheumy. If you’re taking 20mg of MTX and that’s happening, then help is needed :) Wish you the best, hope you can get it sorted, cheers Deb :)

Hello QAGS, If your spurs are hard bony swellings as can often happen , called osteophytes, then no they do not disappear. Even if/when the inflammation is controlled then that might stop them increasing in size but the bony proliferation is permanent. Sorry.

Bless you darling, contact your Rheumy nurse to check out your symptoms 🌟

I also have these bony lumps on my misshapen finger joints. They started 17 years ago with just one of my fingers painful, and then over the years they are now on all my fingers except for my two ring fingers. They get very painful and as my hobbies are crafting and playing various musical instruments it makes it very hard.

I have shown them to various doctors and rheumys over the years and they all say that there is nothing that can be done about it and that over the years they do get worse.

I bought a wax bath in which you cover your fingers and hands in the wax solution and then wrap your hands up and for about 20 minutes. The warmth is very comforting and it does help a bit.

Sorry to tell you this, however it is worth mentioning it to your rheumy as they might have a different opinion to mine.
