Very unlikely that a reputable surgeon would operate without a diagnosis. They would need to know whether or not there was an underlying disease to operate safely.

Since in the UK we don't have the insurance issues that you do in the U.S. I don't quite umdestand why that's stopping you getting a diagnosis. It would be far cheaper than surgery!

My insurance can't find me a rheumatologist so i just suffer here with pain and discomfort. I'm only 18 but my symptoms are progressing more than you'd expect. I feel like even if i do have OA or RA that shouldn't change how they would operate on me in surgery

That is an interesting question. You can always ask, but in my opinion doctors will do what they are going to do.

I would like some stuff operated on too. That's why I like your post. Just fix this darned thing and let me get back to my life. I can't sew. I tried to just for 10 minutes last night. Big mistake. Elbows are in screaming agony now.

Good luck. Request surgery. The doctors can only say no!

Do your homework first. Then ask for your operation and support why it is feasible to have it done along with your findings. Also, know what you are talking about when asking for a referral to have it done. If this is done with good forethought then all you have to do is sell it to the doctor 🙂.

Blessings,

Brian

PS. The squeaky wheel gets the oil....I think??? :)

Hi Lilynette, What kinds of test have they done so far? I just had surgery on my right shoulder that had bone spurs an arthritis bad along with a bicep torn completely off the shoulder then a rotor cuff tear. My personal Orthopedist had just done surgery on my shoulder June 2, 2016 then I was n a wreck on June 23, causing more injury to that same shoulder. MY origianl Ortho. didn't think I needed surgery on the shoulder after the wreck. So I got a 2nd opinion quickly. He scheduled surgery within 10 days. My Dr hadn't fixed the bicep tendon at all, but the second one reattached it to the arm bone an not the joint cause that was impossible to do. Not ever Ortho. does that type of surgery. Needless to say I feel your pain cause wow I had an still have plenty of it. I have bone spurs an arthritis in my left shoulder so bad it needs a total joint replacment but im going to hold off on that for a while cause this surgery is so painful. I never bruised with the first surgery but the 2nd one lord the bruising is horrific an when ppl see it i say i hurt as bad as it looks.

There seems to be a shortage of RA Dr.'s in some areas in the USA as big as Nashville, TN is there is only 2 RA Dr.'s. One is mine but he wasn't doing anything to help so i stop going to him.

Will keep you in my prayers. Maybe if you go to the ER cause of the Pain they maybe able to find you a RA dr. just a thought.
