Hip Operation

Hi all, Help!! just debating what’s the best nightwear to take into hospital for my hip operation, pjs or nightie?? X

Haven’t had a hip op, but could imagine that PJs could be a bit tricky for the initial healing time? I know that they like to get people mobile pretty quickly, but PJ bottoms could be a difficult manoeuvre....... Hope it goes well for you, cheers Deb :)

Thanks for your reply Deb, hips a pretty awkward place for under and outer wear 🙈🙈 after an op! But thanks for the input and best wishes 🤗 x

I'd say nighty. Getting in and out of jimjams will be a pain. I took jams when I had both knees done...never again!

Speedy recovery for your operation. Also make sure to take proper slippers and not flip flop slippers. 😁

I'd choose nightie, one with buttons down the front either just at the top or all the way down so access is easy should they need to check your breathing etc with a stethoscope. Button top PJ's would be ok on top but the bottoms may be restrictive after surgery. I'd treat yourself to some new slippers too, they always look nicer in hospital, preferably not mules though as you need security under foot after a hip op. They'll be having you walk pretty quickly post op, mules aren't always secure or easy to walk in.

I hope all goes well & your recovery is swift.

Hi

I had both hips replaced ( same time) and a nightie was a godsend!

Having said this, they get you up and about as quickly as possible so you may well be fine with PJs? See what you manage.

Best of luck with the op

Marie

Hi Marie, OMG!!! 🙈🙈 didn’t think they did them both at the same time! I’ve been told I’ll need the other one done in about 18 months time, (something to look forward to lol!!) nightie looks like the better option by everyone who’s replied, thank you very much for your wise and experienced reply. Keep well 🤗 X

Certainly do. In fact, three months after having this done, I had both knees replaced together as well- that was a difficult time and I don’t know that I’d recommend it.

Yeah, nightie, secure slippers and you’ll be whizzing about in no time.

Good luck

Marie

Well, well done you!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻bet that was no mean feat!!!! Thanks again. 🤗 X

Hip operations are a bit like going on a skiing holiday...always take a skirt"just in case"

Definitely a nightie....if possible buttoned up through the front!

Ha! Ha! 🤣🤣 That's a good way of putting it! Thanks! 🤗 X

Wear hospital nighties, let them do the washing.
