Good news being back on MTX after chest infection.

Well, after having to take a 3-week break from Methotrexate after getting a serious chest infection over Christmas (and being on antibiotics), I can happily report that now I am back on it, things are improving again. Phew.

I think we all had a blip through the festivities, I’m just back on my mtx and Humira after chest infection and cold virus, onwards and upwards

So glad to hear you are doing better👏🏽

May I ask what type of chest infection you had.

I ask because I had pneumonia they said

But now I have asthma after 48 yrs and I have panic attacks and get tire soo fast

It’s so confusing.

I have RA and I’m taking MTX on my 3 week..

Ahhh the good old panic attacks. I've suffered from those too. So I had an upper respiratory infection and because I have asthma, and a temperature, they couldn't risk just letting it go and out me on antibiotics immediately. It took a while but it did help.

The cold weather is also horrible for my asthma. I actually went to an exercise class yesterday and don't think my lungs were fully healed. I got out of breath so fast, then panicked and it brought on a mild panic attack. As I've had them before I knew what it was, but it still scares the crap out of me, and the people around me.

You need to really sort them out and the only thing I suggest is seeing a therapist. Panic attacks are usually caused by something deeper... and then they are triggered by something that may not be obvious. Speak to someone if you can.

Good. It's always a concern if you'll respond the same if you've not needed to stop a med. Onwards & upwards. It's been a really bad one this time round, laid a lot of people low. I've not been as bad as needing antibiotics thankfully, unusual for me as they usually attack my lungs being my weak spot. I did stop MTX last week though, don't need the pain of lung inflammation, been there & I ain't going back if I can help it! My h has had antibiotics, he really was not very well though thankfully on the mend as he had lung involvement too.

Keep on keeping on. 😷

I'm stopping Mtx this week (for 2nd time) and next as nurse said was stopping body recovering from viral infection, lingering cough and husky voice (not good for a singer) can't hold tune in a bucket at moment lol. bizarre difference of opinion, rheumy nurse said don't stop pills for a cold ? was doctors blood nurse ,who takes mtx herself, that told me she had been advised by her rheumy doc to stop pills as with lowered immune system your body can't fight infections. Took her advice and stopped now till better lol...get well soon all fellow sufferers. x

I think a light cold is fine to keep taking mtx. It’s when it’s an infection or flu that you might be advised to stop mtx.
