Yes I was, also had tumeric lattes & added it to my food. All honestly it made no difference to me & cant say any diet has but that’s just me.

My regular cafe gave my friends and me a small sample of tumeric latte to try, which did not find much favour as far as taste goes. Nothing really yuk, but I found even a small amount quite sickly. Lots of folk seem to like it though.

My husband gets them on subscription and swears by them for his aches and pains. Think his are caused by old age and overweight rather than RA though.

Hi AngelMar, yes I've been taking the capsules for a while now primarily to control my psoriasis, which it does very well. As a natural anti inflammatory it works very well and does aid easing my rhem arthritis.

Thanks to all who replied, much appreciated! I think I'll give them a try as I have nothing to lose but pain!. I'll let you all know how I go on 3months down the line. X

I tried them for a couple of months but didn't find any difference. And they seemed to give me indigestion. But I can't see any downside to giving them a try.

People have told me since that the turmeric needs to be heated in oil to be most effective, but in spicy food it also seems to give me indigestion...

so I've stopped trying it.

The effects of turmeric have been studied of decades and it is well documented that it has a antiinflammatory effect. However it needs to be prepared right in order for it to be absorbed. Making your own " golden paste" is the best way. For those taking mtx it has also been shown that turmeric decreases the ill effects of this med on the liver.Simba

Here is something quite interesting on the protective effect of turmeric when on mtx.

That’s interesting re the effects of turmeric on the liver while on mtx. My liver markers seem to be consistently raised, although still within the acceptable range for my rheumy. A couple of years ago, I got all the gear together for making golden paste into ‘coffee beans’, then was reluctant to try making it because of concerns about the contraindications with other meds. Perhaps it’s time to revisit!

I've started taking tumeric capsules but as you know it takes a while to get into your system, I also drink herbal teas my favorite one being tumeric and ginger. I'm starting to believe it's positive thinking If you believe they work they will, but there is evidence to suggest turmeric is excellant as is ginger.

Doesn’t really matter how it works as long as it works for you.

Not on capsules but I take golden paste twice a day and have found that (for me) it really does help with the inflamation. It also has really helped settle my colitis caused by years of nsaid use.

It's worth a try but you need to be careful when you take it in relation to any other meds.

Thanks Maggsie! I’m only on Cimzia, CBD oil and painkillers so I’m sure I’ll be fine! Just hope they work! X

I just started on them a week or so ago. The ones I have also have ginger and black pepper in them. Ginger to sooth tum and apparently the pepper helps the turmeric to be absorbed better. Bit early to say if helping.

in reply toDoricQuine55

Yeah those are the ones I bought! They are organic1420mg high strength by Tumeric Vitality UK from Amazon. X

I've had a packet of turmeric and ginger oat cakes sitting unopened for a year now. Perhaps I should open it, can always give it to the gulls if its not palatable!

Yes I have tried them, you need to take a reasonable high dose for them to work.

I have them but have read recently that its better to have in food and drinks as it gets absorbed by your body that way and capsules are not really very effective being absorbed, not quite sure why ?!

You can get some nice Tumeric tea in Sainsburys....

Side effects

Though it is usually considered safe, overconsumption may lead to indigestion, nausea, diarrhea and allergies. If you have gall bladder problems, are taking blood-thinners or other long-term medications for any severe ailment, consult your doctor before drinking this tea.

Yes I have been taking these for over a year and they do help with inflammation. I also add turmeric to soups, casseroles etc.

Late to the party here sorry, but, I have been taking Tumeric with black pepper (600mg caps) for 12 weeks now. Seen improvement after 3 weeks to the RA in my hands.Hardly any swelling now. Also after I have been hiking etc it would normally take me 2 or 3 days to recover from pain in knees, hips and ankles. Since I started the Tumeric my recovery from any execise is amazing and have very little aches and pains the next day.

To avoid the indigestion etc I ensure I take my 2 a day after I have eaten.

I buy mine from the well known health shops here in UK and look out for price drops and 2 for 1 deals.

I also take CBD drops on a night, my sleep quality has definately improved.

😂😂 thanks mingsbeard! Better late than never! I did order turmeric & black pepper capsules from Amazon, but after taking them for a couple of weeks was told to delay them before hip surgery as apparently they thin the blood!! But will definitely be back on them ASAP 👍 🤗 X
