I drink it everyday now. A member on here told me about it. I am unsure what is helping what as I am on daily mushrooms too but I am better.

do you have it first thing before breakfast? and with mushrooms how do you cook them?

I brought some, forestiere, we have a air fryer where you don't need any oils to fry with

is that the way to cook them?

I drink one little bottle after dinner with berries. Mushrooms - I snack on raw and/or lightly cooked in an omelette. Make sure to toss them in very last as they take a minute to cook. Stir fryd - same thing. Put them in a juicer, anything really. Depends how each person can cope with consuming mushrooms. I personally love them! Lucky me!

There was a report recently following controlled trial studies in several places that probiotics are a waste of money and have no effect on gut health. But I have no opinion either way. Except I tried it once and didn’t like the taste😂

I think again it's personal choice and if it works - Great! If not, try mushrooms! 😁

Yakault as you know is a probiotic drink that helps put good bacteria on your gut, but I once read that there's more good probiotic in a teaspoon of natural live yogurt and is a lot cheaper than buying the yakault version. I love mine over fruit any time of day. Xx

Life yoghurt is good for cholesterol too. Better than taking statins anyway🙄. I’ve gone off most dairy nowadays. Almond ‘milk’. Olive oil spread. All doctor recommended

No it's not good for you really. It is full of sugar. You'd be better off with kefir or eating fermented foods.

like natural live yogurt??

I heard that Nettie. I use to drink but take a pre/probiotic now.

Natural live yogurt is good, and sauerkraut if you like it? Kefir is good. You can buy it in most stores, or you can make it.

I'd avoid the yakult if I were you. It expensive and the sugar is bad for you.

Agree...all very clever marketing to make you pay twice as much for something. Sometimes more money does equal better quality, but not for these sugary products - nearly 3 teaspoons of sugar in every little bottle.

Wait a minute! I've made a mistake, it's not yakult it's Danone Actimel. Just checked in the fridge. Sorry Veronica.

in reply toShalf

I'm afraid also full of sugar. 🤔

Well I have low blood sugar and slim so I think I'll be ok.

Plain old live yogurts are better for the reason Yakult, Actimel etc are made & far cheaper depending on the brand, we buy Aldi's. Love it with forest fruits or any fresh fruit you have in or my h likes it with a drizzle of honey. He's careful how much sweet stuff he consumes but did try Actimel when it first came out in Spain soon after being diagnosed with IBS as we didn't know better. Soon stopped that, it's too sickly sweet.

We had it before breakfast coffee.

in reply tonomoreheels

It's got about 2 teaspoons of sugar in those tiny bottles!

Crazy mad for the bottle size.

in reply tonomoreheels

Yes it's nuts!

More! And overall about same sugar per gram as coca cola!

I was having it for few years. My gastro surgeon took me off it saying it was not good at all and waste of money.

Too much sugar. Make your own kefir, I bought the live grains on line and have been making ever since. I make with organic whole milk. Sorry can't remember which one now. I have on my oat or natural rice based breakfast with berrys. Really helps my stomach with all these meds. X

I always check the sugar and fat content on any 'health' food, many of them have higher sugar/fat than the non health versions and are more expensive too. Natural live yoghurt with added fresh fruit over porridge does the trick for me. I also use filtered fresh cows milk without any problems.

Hi

I am a food scientist. It has been known for a long time that these products are a waste of money.

In a nutshell your stomach is very acidic, so if you are lucky 1 bug from these 'biotics' will make it past the stomach.

Save your pennies and spend it on live yoghurt. Also think about your diet. Keep the baddies down - sugar, fat etc - don't eliminate them just keep them in check. Then you will be feeding the good naturally occurring bugs that live in your gut and keeping the naughty bugs at bay.
