Norovirus is easily transferred so it's more people's bad hygiene habits than the food. It lives in human faeces, not in fruit and veg. So things have to be contaminated with them to infect you and if workers don't wash their hands......

I personally think these stories are a bid to soften us up to accept that food should be sprayed with disinfectant and other chemicals, like cheap chlorinated chicken from the US.

Yes when you grow your own. We have two allotments and my dh grows all our vege and we eat in season as well.xxxx

Wash them and you will be fine, norovirus would also not be keen on the chillers that supermarkets keep their fruit and veg in for up to 6 weeks, the virus needs a suitable host

Its like ecoli its everywhere and makes sense to just wash the stuff. Why worry it we took notice of everything like this we'd noteat or drink anything. I just laughed as my FIL farmed and my friend always thought Waitrose onions were better than Tesco's actually all grew on same field he just bought blue bands or red ones to the number he was contracted to grow.

One thing though in hospital washing hands was ok but did the person before do it? so I used a tissue to open door. Cruise ships ask people to do that and it did seem a good idea.

I never touch toilet doors, I do the same as you, tissue paper and always gel hands prior to eating and drinking outside my home.
