I need to get use to the mean and undignified when travelling 😏

Just need to vent this and then move on.

En route to work yesterday morning. Women gets on with a chap. Now her bag falls on my leg/foot, some of you know my RA attacks my feet joints leaving me unable to walk due to the inflammation. I was uncomfortable as one can imagine, she said sorry - I let it go but sat through the uncomfortable feeling. Now, she did feel bad and kept saying to the man opposite - who I heard him say to her, that it didn't hurt and the trolley was soft. I said nothing.

The chap sat next to me needed to get off at his stop. I slowly got up, as lord know with RA destroying your ankles I am like a tortoise. I usually wait for everyone to leave the train before I exit. I decided to move to empty row of seats behind, where this man continue with his insults and rudeness, I was being called a silly cow, exaggerating.... It was upsetting. I decided to get up and explained to him why I can't move and about pain. To which again this dimwit retorted with sheer sarcasm. I realise he was a lost cause and only pray karma will get to work with such diabolical individuals as he.

I shall be reporting him even if nothing transpires to National Rail. I tried to go after him, but he rushed off train and was gone! I was absolutely fuming and upset.

What is wrong with people today.

Stay well all and avoid the fools!

He has the problem, not you.

Because of his stupidity he allowed himself to become angry and then to take it out on you.

He is going to feel bad all day and everyone else will avoid him, roll their eyes, or in other ways make their discomfort felt.

And just think, dreadful man has probably gone home and got a right ear full from the women for being such a git. So no laughs, no dinner, no nothing..... Which one of you is best off? Plus Santa knows where he lives, so just a lump of coal for him this Christmas.

We don’t need people like that in our world but unfortunately they are there. I believe in karma, just a pity you wont be there to see the result! But to make you feel better just imagine what that might be -

Do you know what Zip, you guys have made me feel better already. I have laughed so much my tummy hurts. The power of the universe shall deal with him, I feel confident with that. Have an awesome day ! 😊

I never understand why some people enjoy being rude to others. I love having a laugh and being friendly. Life is too short for anything else.

Agreed Shalf. Laughter is such therapy and as you rightly point out we are not on planet earth for rehearsals. Let’s add in more smiles πŸ˜€ when we can!

Karma will get him in the end! At least he out his bag o;the floor and you had a seat. Down here in East Anglia people stand for miles packed looks sardines while some plonker’s bag is on a seat. They now put their bag on the inside and sit on the corridor - that way at first glance you don’t notice it is a bag next to them and not another person.

My husband was mortified last time we travelled together at a busy time - full price I might add - anyway, being the canny Scot I am I stood and looked at a guy and told him to move his bag because I wanted the seat. He did it but I have to say on the return journey even I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of asking the guy with his β€˜G&T in a tin’ to move his bag for me. Sometimes you just have to accept the selfish idiots yand u meet in life.

Says she who is about to head off and get a train πŸ˜‰

Hessie5 profile image
Hessie5 in reply to Fruitandnutcase

Oh my, don't get me started on those folks who feel their bags are deserving of a seat, as well as the ’let me lay out all my make up to put on the train’. It can be a tadge frustrating 😬 Oops I may have started something here, oh dear.

Hope your train journey is much improved and do tell them to move their bags....Stay well

Mmrr profile image
Mmrr in reply to Hessie5

oh the make up...I saw a woman sit on the floor by the door of a busy train, makeup sprawled out on the same mucky floor, getting annoyed as people stepped over the makeup and her to get on and off the train, until one guy said move it or I'll stand on it. We then had a big huff.

Hessie5 profile image
Hessie5 in reply to Mmrr

That's unreal πŸ˜‚ - oh my goodness! I sometimes think is it me. I could write a good blog on these selfish soles. I bet it was moved pretty swiftly. Now let's not get started on the mobile phone dimwits, who need to share with everyone their personal details from breakfast to relationships....

I used to travel a lot so got lots of similar stories ( there are lots of really pleasant helpful people too, but thats not what we are on about here, maybe we should have another thread ?!)

Boarded the London to Edinburgh train feeling thankful that I had prebooked a seat as the train was busy, standing room only and we had not yet left kings cross.

Faught my way through the crowds to my isle seat to find a huge suitcase on it. I asked the 3 people sitting at the table if it belonged to them ? 2 said no 3rd wouldn't answer, despite asking several times. So, I said if it does not belong to anyone I'll move it to luggage storage. I then got abuse from the 3rd person .... don't you dare touch my case...showed her my ticket with the seat reservation asked her to move it ....big long exchange leading nowhere ....So I went to fetch the guard, who told the woman to move it. Cursed , but moved the case, awful vibes on the journey, but I just ignored them. Really ? I pay a railfare , book a seat and have to stand to give a suitcase a seat on a 4 hr 40 min journey ?

I got on a trai last year, looked up and there was an unaccompanied bag. I was just thinking about throw8ng it out of the door when the tra8n moved off. Too late if it was anything dodgy. Next thing a girl comes running up in a panic searching for something. I pointed and said the bag is there. Poor soul had gone to the loo between stops and then got locked in when the train stopped. She thought s9me9ne might have taken her bag and got off. Didn’t tell her I nearly threw it off the train.

Number one son was in a tube in rush hour when they realised there was an unaccompanied bag. The people near it asked each other if it was theirs. Two girls decided to get off with it and give it to station staff. Pretty brave of them. Shortly afterwards a guy arrived looking for it. He said they all just looked the other way.

Rubyroo1 profile image

ooh yeah, especially those who seem to need to facetime with people!!! I hear about these things all the time from my hubbie who travels most weeks by train, sometimes he will join in with the conversation just for fun, to see what happens.....if they tell him its none of his business, he just replies that they have made it his business by being on speakerphone/facetime ! He can be such a devil :-)

Good for you, people should realise that they can cause real pain by the smallest of accidents, no it may not have caused him pain if it had happened to him, but it did you, and would for many others with RA. Good for you for trying to explain to him, he is just an ugly ignoramus, we are all wishing karma on him ! No wonder he rushed off , he was probably embarrassed as you had pointed out his ignorance ! If anyone ever does the same to me, god help them, as they are likely to get a mouthful of abuse back ! :-)

Thanks Rubyroo - oh I was angry and so close to pushing that case over his foot... but common sense prevailed. He he... With all this hilarious feedback the universe is giving him something !

Oh I can remember the days I had to catch the bus for work. My main issue was the retired old ladies who got on the bus for free with their trolleys and I’ve seen some of them run to get it too. So I’d be sitting in the disabled seat with my stick barely able to move and I can’t tell you how many times I was asked to stand or move by them I think because I was younger than them they thought my stick was just for show. I must say I am the 1st person who if I was able would give up my seat and I have done when I was having a ok day so a heavily pregnant woman could sit down. It makes me so mad that people can be so insensitive to others needs.

Never mind sending a big hug πŸ€— and hoping the dickhead gets his comeuppance. So glad I don’t have to battle the old ladies anymore πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ
