I personally do notice a difference in my memory since becoming unwell. You will also find the literature about RD does acknowledge memory issues too, all part of the brain fog and poor sleep pattern phenomenon.

Whilst well documented, many rheumatologists dont seem to accept the problem many of us experience as a significant part of the disease process. I've been seen at the Anne Rowling Clinic (funded by JK Rowling after her mum), the neurologist there researches into these type of problems brought on by inflammitory conditions such as RD. He has been excellent, and I've had some input from a clinical psychologist to help me cope with my situation.

Just being believed has been heartwarming in itself. So do ask for support if you feel you need it.

And there I was thinking it was just advancing age! It makes me angry when I cannot remember recent actions and especially the names of people I know well. I was putting it down to age(85) rather than my 30 year old RA.

Yes, I have this problem too! Unsure if it's the medication, the disease, Fibromyalgia or lack of sleep but it's definitely there and upsets me sometimes.

When I was on methotrexate I felt ill all the time and my daughter-in-law thought that I was going senile... When I stopped it and transferred to azathioprine I felt a lot better and was able to think and remember things again. Not sure if it was the methotrexate itself, or just because I felt so awful on it.

Yes. I’ve been blaming the methotrexate.

Hi

Yes my memory became very poor indeed. I put it down to brain fog and fatigue. I am heading into chemical remission now and my memory has improved a lot.

I get this all the time ... it’s frustrating. I have to assign a picture or a word to remember a word - if that all makes sense.
