Blood results help

So following some advice from a previous post I got a copy of blood results. The interesting tests (outside the normal range) are as follows:

Serum C Reaction Protein Level - 15.7 (0.00-5)

ANA is 1/640 and the nuclear light Intensity is 907 (0.00 - 48.00) speckled

Red cell distribution width 11.8 (12.00 - 15.00)

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate 14 (0.00 - 12.00)

Also my result for eGFRcreat (CKD-EPI) is >90 so just within the normal range (90.00 - 120.00)

Finally have my Rheumatologist appointment 4th February and I'm compiling a history of complaints. Should I be asking for an explanation of these results? X

You have perhaps already looked these up as you have a normal range to compare with. The Rheum will tell you what it means specifically for you when she has looked at your joints and heard your history. Blood results on their own tell a limited amount. If she doesn't explain, you can ask.

Yes they are only one part of the diagnostic picture. But they are basically saying your kidneys are broadly ok, as are your red blood cells. Don't get too fretful anout tiny variations above or below the norm as it may well be this is completely normal for you.

The positive antibody test suggests that you may (and it is only a "may") have an autoimmune disease - but you can be positive for loads of reasons. Equally you have some inflammation going on, but not that raised so could be something as simple as a cold.

So these results aren't waving big red flags, but will be giving the rheumatologist some more clues to add to his/her diagnosis.

Your blood tests are unremarkable really. CRP shows some inflammation, ESR which is long term inflammation is up a bit. There’s no big warnings here, so I don’t think there is much to be alarmed about.

Thanks everyone. That's comforting. So hopefully the pain in my feet is genuinely just plantar fasciitis and just that and my wrist is just dodgy for some reason. I might have nothing to worry about and it's just old injuries or something. 4th February cannot come quick enough.

Not what you're looking for?
