Menstruation Stopped After Taking Salazopyrin

Hi. I'm 32 and been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis in February last year. Been taking mtx since then and last few months I was prescribed with Salazopyrin 500mg 4 tabs daily along with the mtx. However my period totally stops now and it's getting into 2 menstrual cycles already. I have PCOS but my menses are normal before. I also have hot flashes every night now along with nausea and racing heartbeats. Consulted my gynae today and he said the culprit is the Salazopyrin. I have to either sacrifice my meds to get my menses back or vice versa. Does anyone facing the same issue like mine? Thanks in advance.

There are lots of other medications available - have a look at the treatments pages on the website so that you can discuss them with your rheumy team.

It's always difficult having more than one thing wrong with you but lots of us have to juggle that!

Mine are up the wall too, I was on MTX for months then changed to SLZ. I always thought it was the MTX which affected things though, particularly when you consider its other uses.

However, I am not complaining. Two days, every six to eight weeks suits me fine!

Hi I am 17 years old, i was diagnosed with ulcerative distal colitis 2 years ago. I got salazopyrin since 1 and a half month. 500mg 6 tabs per day. I had to get my period last week but didn't get it.

Sorry I don't have any advises, but it's the same issue as me. Also i thought i was pregnant I am so relieved right now, thank you!
